Two years ago this weekend we lost our little Rosie.  She was a wonderful little girl who came to us at the age of seven from a life at a puppy mill.  It took her a little while to learn to trust us but once she did she was the perfect little companion.  SO sweet, SO cute, SO loving….. We miss our little Rosie Posie Puddin’ and Pie and think of her often.

She was such a princess that she had two vehicles.

We love and miss you Rosie!

Meet Buzz.  He lives in Fort Valley with his mom and his grandmom commissioned this painting for her for her birthday.  Isn’t he cute?  It’s not too late to get a pet portrait for the pet lover on your Christmas list.  Contact me today at kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com .

As I posted a few weeks ago, click here to see more, I have been working on Hunter Orange sweaters for my boys to wear when we go to the cabin during hunting season.  They love to run and play and I want to be sure they are well seen.

Here they are modeling their new looks.

And here they are arguing over who wears it the best!

And Lincoln with an expression on his face like “Why me?”

Jed’s Gift

One of the “joys” of painting on location when you take Jed and Lincoln is that you often are presented with gifts!

Here is Jed bringing a “gift” to us while we were working.

Here is a close-up of the “gift” – a deer skull with some hair still attached!  YUCK!!!

After accepting the “gift”, I placed it on top of the Explorer while we finished painting so that Jed and Lincoln wouldn’t fight over it and gnaw on it the rest of the morning.   Did I say YUCK???!!!!

Lincoln got bored with waiting for me to take it down off the top of the truck and give it back.

So he kept jumping into the back of Susan’s vehicle every time the door opened.  He loved spending time with Faith and Harley.  I’m not sure Harley was as enthusiastic about Lincoln being in his space.

I have been working on sweaters for the boys to wear out at the cabin during hunting season.  I worry about them running loose there with all the hunters around.  Last year I put an orange t-shirt on Jed thinking that would work and he came back about 30 minutes later without it.  I never did find that shirt.

So this year I am making crocheted sweaters that fit tight enough that they can’t pull them off.  Here is Lincoln modeling his Hunter Orange sweater.

And here is Jed in a teal one that I made first as a prototype.  I had to play with the pattern to make it fit my long and low dogs.  Now on to make an orange one for Jedder Bean!  (Although he looks so handsome in Teal!)

Too Tired

Too tired after the Festival to do anything.  I’ll take photos of the paintings I worked on and get those on the blog tomorrow.

This is Lincoln’s favorite sleep position.  We were napping….or trying to.   🙂

Lincoln continues to be fascinated by the large Koi fish in the pond at the cabin.  He wades into the water and watches them….and they watch him.

If I am ever unsure of where he’s run off to, I can take a look down in the water and he is often sitting there watching his fish.

We spent the weekend at our friends Sally and Bob’s farm in Southern Virginia.  And the dogs were in heaven.  Counting Jed and Lincoln there were 11!

All of Sally’s dogs are rescues, bless her heart!  And the latest is Jack.  He’s the smallest guy she’s ever had and she is besotted with him and his underbite.

Jed and Lincoln played in the water, walked, ran and played for two straight days and now they are exhausted.  Yeah!

Lincoln with a couple of his “girls”.  We decided that Lincoln is definitely a ladies man.  He loved all the girls dogs and they LOVED him.

The Red Pottery Barn is an oil on canvas measuring 9″x12″.  This is a painting we are working on in our Tuesday afternoon class.  It should be finished soon.

Last night I returned home after being gone for just two hours to teach my Thursday evening art class and this is what I found.  Apparently Lincoln had a little party while I was away.  The sad thing is that all of this “stuff” was up on shelves or on the table when I left.  I don’t know how a dog with those short legs can get things from that high up.   UGH!!!

Taking a Break

I took a break from painting over the long holiday weekend.  I mainly worked at the shop, Delilah’s, and enjoyed time with friends and the boys.
