Minnesota Truman

Several weeks ago I shared with you a portrait I did of a basset hound named Truman who lived in Minnesota. (See that here.) Last week I got this wonderful photo of Truman with his portrait. I love it. But I am sad to report that old Truman is no longer with us. His family had to let him go recently as his cancer had just gotten to bad to live with. 😦
I know that their Truman was well-loved and am so glad that they shared a small part of him with us.

Last week I posted about working still as a Daily Painter and showed you a couple of paintings that I was working on. (See that here.) Here is the completed pet portrait that I was working on in that post. It’s all framed and ready for pick-up Saturday and it will be headed to its home in Memphis, Tennessee!
Still Daily Painting

I get questions all the time about “daily painting”. The most often asked is “Do you paint every day?” And the answer is “almost”. When I first joined the daily painting movement I did paint every day. And I completed a different small painting everyday….for a long time. I did this for about 4 years. Then I started working on larger paintings and while I painted every day I didn’t complete one each day.
But then I started offering other types of classes besides painting so it required me to create in other formats (like crocheting, multi-media, etc.) to prepare for classes so now my answer is that I create something everyday. It may not always be a painting like it was in the beginning but I do something creative each and every day.
Right now I have a couple of paintings that I am working on that still need a little work to be finished. Here are a couple. You will hopefully see the finished paintings soon.

Bella-The Beautiful Dane

I am asking for prayers of healing and comfort for my friend Carol Ann’s Great Dane Bella. She is such a wonderful and gentle dog. I have known her since her first day home with Carol Ann as a puppy just a few months old. I had never been around Danes before and she was so fun to get to know.
She, of course, was big even as a puppy…she is a Great Dane after all. And she LOVED to play with my basset hound Truman. And they were the funniest pair. She towered over him even as a puppy. But they liked to play together and we loved watching it.
She is having some spine and back issues that is making it difficult for her to stand and walk. I am so hoping that the treatment they are pursuing will help relieve her pain and discomfort. She will be 10 in March – a long life for a Dane.
She is a beautiful girl and her “Aunt Treat” loves her very much. Feel well Bella! We love you so much.

Daisy’s Sweater (or The Adventures of Daisy!)
Posted in Crochet, Dogs, Serendipity, tagged crocheted dog sweater, crocheted dog sweater pattern, daisy, dog sweater on January 11, 2015| 1 Comment »
We have had a visitor staying with us this week.
DAISY! She is a little Westie that just turned one year old.
What fun she has been. She has stirred Lincoln up and Jed has just tried to steer clear of the craziness. Since she is just a puppy she has gotten into a lot of “things” this week and been very lively. 🙂
It has been VERY cold this week so I put one of Mamie’s sweater’s on Daisy but it was a little large. That just meant one thing – Daisy needed a sweater made just for her! (Here is the pattern for the dog sweater. It is written for a dog the size of Lincoln but you can adjust it for larger or smaller dogs.)
So I made this green sweater using bulky yarn. And of course, we needed to decorate it with a daisy – her signature flower. I think she looks adorable.
Daisy goes home this eveningg and we will miss her terribly. But the good news is that she just lives a few doors down the street so I am hoping I can convince her mom that she needs to come back often for more adventures. What do you think?
Birch Trees and a Teaching Assistant

The kids painted some beautiful “Birch Trees at Night” in their class yesterday. Super work! They look great.
And I had a teaching assistant at all my classes yesterday. Daisy is a one-year-old Westie who is a neighbor’s pup. They had to go out-of-town on an emergency last Sunday night and so Daisy came to stay with us. She is an adorable, sweet little girl…but make no mistake she is ALL terrier…full of life and mischief! We are enjoying her.
