Our good pup friend, Shadow Pond, passed away this past week. We were so sad to hear this. He had a wonderful family and a very long life…he was 17! We saw Shadow most mornings on our walk. He would often be laying in the yard enjoying some fresh air and would greet us and sniff everyone. We’d talk for a few minutes and then be on our way. He was a beautiful, sweet boy. We will really miss Shadow. See a little video here of a typical visit. We’re thinking of his family as we know they must be heartbroken.

Campers Paint the Town Clock

On the last day of this session of art camp our young artists (ages 5-7) painted another local scene….our Town Clock. And didn’t they do a terrific job?! It is always a challenge to get so many to sit still for a photo but then when a dog walks by as we are set up for the photo all kinds of wiggling occurs. Everyone of them had to get a pet in as the pup walked by. LOL

A few weeks ago we saw a cute little Black and Tan Coonhound pup walking by The Studio and we asked his dad to stop so we could all pet him and get a photo to paint. The kids loved him. Well we got around to painting his portrait this week. Look at what a great job the kids did with their portraits of Rocky.

Yesterday we had so much fun working with the Humane Society of Warren County dog team staff creating a beautiful work of art that they will hang in their shelter. The team building exercise had them painting 9 canvases that will be connected and delivered to them soon. They did a marvelous job on this fun painting of pups! Great work everyone. Remember that we did this exercise with the cat staff a few years ago. You can see that painting here.

The Studio is sponsoring a really fun event for the Humane Society of Warren County – PAWCASSO. When Lavenda Denney approached me last year about her idea for this project she knew she had me at art and rescue pets. She wanted to have the available animals at the shelter “paint” works of art to sell at a show at the arts council. I loved the idea and agreed to sponsor it right away but also suggested we take it a little further by offering private lessons for people who already have pets. So The Studio provided 10 sessions to people who would pre-purchase a large (18″ x 24″) painting with their pets. The pets had a private lesson with me and we created the large work of art. And it’s no surprise that those sold out. We have had so much fun with this project. And tonight is the reception from 6-9 pm at The Blue Ridge Arts Council at 405 E Main St. You don’t want to miss it! You have to see this art and these wonderful small works are for sale. Please come. Here are some of the painters at their session. LOL!
