During the Farm Tour last May I took lots of photos of Barns and Farms for the upcoming show at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.  I have painted several including this one of a horse stall barn at Butch Eastham’s farm.

There was several children there that day so excited about seeing the horses.  I decided it would be better painting with the little girl in it so I made a change.

That’s one thing about painting.  You can always change something if you decide you would like it better another way!

I call this Farm Tour at the Eastham Barn. It is an 8″x10″ acrylic on canvas.

Also, took this photo of Little Girl when I was at the Eastham Farm that day.  Couldn’t resist showing it…

Several weeks ago as I was preparing for Modern Art Camp for the kids I decided I needed to attempt a copy of a Matisse painting since that’s what we would be doing for camp.  The one on the left, Lady in a Purple Dress, is the one I did.  My Wednesday Young Artists gave it a go too.  Charlee is shown her with her beautiful version.

And this is Maggie with her excellent version.  Great job girls.  It was fun painting in a little different style and learning more about Matisse.

We had a great time in Easton at the Plein Air Festival.  The Paint-Out was Saturday with lots of painters.  This was the view from our hotel room.

It was great to see so many painters working even though the heat was crazy!!!

It’s fun to see all the different easels and set-ups that artists use.

And the artists had to work around the many, many people who were in town to watch.  I think some artists enjoyed that aspect while others, not so much.

There was even a young artists painting area for the little ones.  And they were having a great time!!!

Easton is a great little art town.  I love the banners hanging on every light pole.  Local artists produce them and they hang for the year.  Then they are auctioned off in December as a fund-raiser to help fund the arts for the next year.

I saw a kid coloring in a coloring book at a doctor’s office recently and thought, “What fun!”  I haven’t colored outside the lines in years so I came home and “colored”.  And it was fun!!!

A few weeks ago Michele Sommers, Sommers End Originals, and I painted this mural at our the Julia Wagner Animal Shelter here in Warren County.  It turned out great and adds a lot of life to a dull wall there.

We invite other artists to come out and add other animals to the window.  Plus we will be painting a tree on the small wall leading to the cat area and will add cats to that mural.  If you would like to help just get in touch with us.

You can see more photos of the mural and Michele and I at work here.
