A month or so ago I went down to Sylva, NC to visit with an aunt and cousin that I hadn’t seen in about 25 years. It was great seeing them. And it was good to see the differences in their mountains and ours. Here are two quick 5×7 paintings that I did when I got home. And stay tuned, the big annual sale starts soon.

I was thrilled when my friend Linda said she would come with me to Stringtown Rising Farm in West Virginia to paint for Suzanne McMinn, www.chickensintheroad.com .
Linda has been terrific painting all sorts of subject matter. Today it was Beulah Petunia, Suzanne’s milking cow. She turned out great!
All I did was a quick sketch and off she went. It’s been a great help having her here. She’s painted a cow, a cat, chickens, birds, bird feeders, herbs, spices, and who knows what tomorrow will bring.
Stay tuned. I hope to post many more photos of our big adventure once we finish painting today.

We started today with blank white block walls….
And soon there there was sky….
And mountains….
And a meadow and trees….
And Linda painted a cat, Spice, in the tree.
We still have lots of animals to add but it’s really coming along.
Then after dinner I got my second wind and painted the other cat, Sugar, in the mailbox. Can you say special delivery??!!!

The Farms and Barns Show at the Blue Ridge Arts Council opened last night with a good crowd coming in to see it.
Here is my Oxbow Sunflowers along with my four Thursday young artists version of the same scene. It looks great hanging all together.
I also have a display of Farm Animals hanging for this show. They look pretty good altogether like this.
Stop by BRAC to see these and all the other nice paintings of Warren County.

Oxbow Sunflowers is an acrylic on canvas measuring 24″x30″. (SOLD) It was painted for the show at the Blue Ridge Arts Council that opens this Thursday called “Farms and Barns of Warren County” to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the county. It will be available at the show this week.
This is painted combining two photos taken by the owner of this Rockland farm showing the brilliant large sunflowers that took over the landscape there this summer.
