Last week I asked the kids what they wanted to paint next. MISTAKE! They said a soccer ball. So here it is….

The Wednesday students are producing some terrific art. The young artists painted this adorable little pup. So cute!
And Pat continues to produce wonderful paintings like this copy of Mary Cassatt’s Lilacs. Great job Pat!!!
And I just couldn’t resist posting this photo of Pat in her Halloween costume. She always comes up with the BEST ones. This year she is “Taking A Bath in the Tub”. So clever.

Class Demo from The Village at Orchard Ridge

Several months ago I was asked to teach painting at The Village at Orchard Ridge, a beautiful retirement community just West of Winchester.
(Here is the post I did about a demonstration I did there for the residents.)
I am having so much fun painting with these students. They are delightful. We meet every other week and paint together and they share with me other things they have been painting in between.
Art is such a good hobby for people especially as they age. Anyone can do it. It doesn’t take any special physical need. As long as you can sit up and hold a brush you are good to paint! This is something everyone can do.
My students there range in age from 60’s-90’s! I am always happy to see this group of enthusiastic painters.

The Talking Beagle

Last week at my evening adult classes I started a painting. Sometimes when I feel that everyone is on track with their paintings I will paint during the adult art classes. On Wednesday and Thursday I worked on “The Talking Beagle”. It is an acrylic painting on 16″x20″ canvas. I have always loved the way Beagles “talk”-they throw their heads back and just let go! I love it.
This painting is about 75% finished. I still need to get in some details and the finish the face. I am hoping to get to that during this weeks class.
