“Violets by the Window” is a painting that I have been working on for several weeks with the group I teach at The Village at Orchard Ridge. The ladies there are very good painters and they enjoy a challenge. This painting is an acrylic on canvas panel measuring 9″x12″.

The kids painted some beautiful “Birch Trees at Night” in their class yesterday. Super work! They look great.
And I had a teaching assistant at all my classes yesterday. Daisy is a one-year-old Westie who is a neighbor’s pup. They had to go out-of-town on an emergency last Sunday night and so Daisy came to stay with us. She is an adorable, sweet little girl…but make no mistake she is ALL terrier…full of life and mischief! We are enjoying her.

Last night at Art Class I had a delightful group of young people come to paint with me for the first time. It was a brother and sister and cousin. Their grandmother “made” them do it. LOL They all did a wonderful job even though they told me they had not painted this way before.
And in the end they were glad that she MADE them do it. I hope I get the chance to work with them again soon. Great job guys. Keep Painting!

Yesterday at The Studio we had our “Gift Making Workshop for Kids”. And make gifts they did! Lots of them. They made a set of snowman candle holders, a broach with little gift packages, 2 gift bags, and a miniature canvas painting of a snowman family.
They all look GREAT! There are going to be some really lucky people this Christmas who receive these gifts. Well done!

Initials!

Initials are very popular now. So the last two days I worked up these canvas with initials. The K has torn paper over a 12×12 canvas. The N has a sheet of paper untorn over a 6×6 canvas. They are both fun to do. We will be having a class soon at The Studio for anyone who wants to give it a try. (Watch for the date coming soon.) These would make really nice Christmas gifts! UPDATE: We now have dates for the class to make these. Join us on Friday, Dec 5th at 11 am or Tuesday Dec 9th at 6:30 pm. Contact kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com to register.

I am always posting photos of the kids painting but I forget to get photos of the adult students finished pieces. Maybe it’s because they all are working on different subjects and finish at different times so I forget to get a photo of them. Here are Catherine and Kay with paintings that they finished recently. Great work ladies!
