Yesterday Art Camp started at The Studio with young painters (ages 5-7) painting just like Degas. Their versions of Rider in a Red Coat turned out fabulous. Nice work everyone. Today we’ll study Monet. If you have a young painter it’s not too late to get in on art camp. Check out the schedule here.

Summer Art Camp Announced

The schedule for the 2018 Summer Art Camp was announced yesterday featuring a few new sessions. New this summer, we will be offering one session at Lord Fairfax Community College as well as a Sewing Camp for teenagers at The Studio. All of this along with our very popular sessions of Impressionism, Post-impressionism, Modern art and Local scenes. There is something for every young artist ages 5-18. Final Day of Art Camp

The final day of Art Camp at The Studio for this summer was yesterday….and the kids did it up right by painting Van Gogh’s Starry Night. They love this one….and so do we! Great work everyone!
Art Campers Paint Matisse

The final session of Art Camp started yesterday with our youngest artists (ages 5-7) painting Matisse’s Lady in a Purple Coat. They did such a good job in only the 2 hours that we had. Terrific!!!
Van Gogh’s Starry Night at Camp

The young artists were so excited to paint Van Gogh’s Starry Night at Art Camp yesterday. It was our final day of camp for this age group (ages 8-13) for this summer. We had an amazing group of painters who created some beautiful pieces of art while learning about a variety of famous artists. There is one more session left for the younger artists (ages 5-7) coming up on August 3-4. Here is the registration information.
Art Camp Paints Matisse

We love Matisse! The Art Campers loved painting “Girl in the Purple Coat” yesterday. It was quite a challenge to do it in just 3 hours but these young painters were diligent and buckled down and got it finished. And boy, didn’t they do an excellent job?! Great work girls!

At Art Camp yesterday our great young painters recreated Paul Gauguin’s “Tahitian Landscape”. And what beautiful recreations they made! Just take a look. They are terrific. And we do get a little paint on us when we work, don’t we Sloan? LOL
Post-Impressionism Art Camp Begins

We started our Post-Impressionism Art Camp yesterday as our 9 young painters recreated a Mary Cassatt painting of the “Woman Standing, Holding a Fan” from 1878-79. These girls did a wonderful job on this piece. We also created a Color Wheel and talked about the importance of color mixing before we began painting our masterpiece. Next up….Gauguin!
