Just finished the Tree & GIft Table Topper last night and got the binding on. I love it. Lincoln isn’t sure yet. And it can easily be made into a tree skirt as well. Cute, huh?

Dianne and I worked on the mural again on Sunday for 3 more hours. We got the fall panel about 90% complete….and got a start on the Winter sky. Dianne’s traveliing some the next few days so we won’t get to work on it again until she returns. I think it’s moving along faster than Dianne thought it would even though it’s a huge project. More to come.

Yesterday I had a private session with Penny to teach her to make a drawstring skirt. It’s my bad for not asking her to wear something to “match” for a photo but she was a good sport about trying it on so I could see how it fit and to take her photo. Isn’t it a cute skirt? She said she like pink and purples so this fabric suited her. Great job Penny. We’ll sew again soon!

Yesterday I started a mural at my good friend and student Dianne’s home. We have a 26 foot wall to fill and she wants scenes of the valley so we decided to work it in 4 panels….like windows….with each one featuring a season. Because Dianne is helping in the painting we got a good start on the Fall “window”. Because of her travel and my work constraints we are hoping to complete the wall by Thanksgiving. That’s our goal. We’ll keep you posted.

I worked on my 2023 Temperature Quilt this morning. I have been trying to keep up with it each month. I find if I fall behind it’s hard to get going again. I crocheted a temperature blanket a few years ago. (Read about it here.) After seeing a few Temperature Quilts at a show lasat year I decided to give it a try. The Black and White blocks indicate the beginning of each month. The block are half square triangles with the upper right being the high temp of the day and the bottom left the low temp. The key is on the white paper laying on the upper right side in the photo. There is close up photo of the key below. I’ll post another photo at the end of the year when it’s all done. 🙂

We had a delightful group of quilters that went on our quick trip to the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza at Oaks PA on Thursday and Friday. We attended the show on Thursday and saw hundreds of amazing quilts and got some great ideas. We shopped the vendors at the show and then had a great dinner and turned in early Thursday night so we could hit the road early Friday morning for our F.A.R.T. (Fabric Acquisition Road Trip). And acquire fabric we did!!!! We hit 5 of our favorite shops…Zinck’s, Good’s Store, Old Country Store Quilts, Log Cabin Quilts and Burkholders. What a whirlwind! We flew into each shop and all 8 of us found some treasures. (And let me say that these ladies were an amazing group with which to travel. So compatible and up for all adventures!) We loaded up the van and headed home. We were all good and tired when we got home last night but also excited and full of ideas of new projects. I can’t wait to see how all that amazing fabric turns out. If you love sewing and/or quilting be sure to watch for our new Open Studio time just for you!
