Here is another Jelly Roll Quilt that we will be learning to make at an upcoming Quilting Workshop on Saturday, May 20th. It is so convenient to buy jelly rolls, a group of 2 1/2″ x 42″ strips in a variety of coordinating fabrics, to cut down on cutting time and enabling you to work up a quick quilt. Another reason that quilters love jelly rolls is that the fabrics are wonderfully matched so it cuts out having to select and match fabrics. If you would like to learn to quilt this is a good starter project. Click here to register and for more information.

Jelly Roll Quilts

I was asked recently to offer a class on easy Jelly Roll quilts. We have bought these cute jelly rolls with 2 1/2″ x 42″ strips, loving the mix of fabrics, but haven’t figured out just what to make with them. So I have worked up a couple of quilts with some easy jell roll patterns. We’ll have a daylong workshop soon at The Studio where you can make a jelly roll quilt choosing from one of two or three designs. And the best part is you will get all the patterns so you can make more at home!

Last year I invested in a quilt design software program called EQ8 – Electric Quilt. I love it. It has made it so much easier to design blocks and quilts and put it all together. Most designers who use this software are probably traditional quilters but I still use the designs as “Quilt as You Go” projects. It’s pretty easy to adapt them to QAYG. This is one I finished yesterday and thought you might like to see the design layout and the actual quilt. I tweaked it a little when I laid it out. I love EQ8! #IEQ8

We learned to make flying geese last night as we make the Dutchman’s Puzzle and Virginia Reel at our sampler class. This was not this group’s favorite. But they know that each time we meet it gets a little more challenging. Just two more blocks to go for this group and then we will begin putting it together.
