Maddie and Jim 2

Maddie and Granddaddy (Jim) with their finished paintings

Maddie and Granddaddy (Jim) with their finished paintings

Sometimes really special things happen at The Studio when I teach.  This week I got to enjoy one of them.  For Christmas a couple of young girls gave their granddaddy a gift certificate to The Studio.  They knew he was getting ready to retire and they were suggesting an option of some things he might like to try.

This week he used his gift to paint with one of his granddaughters….one who has taken classes and art camp with me before.  So Maddie and Jim painted these wonderful beach scenes.  Maddie helped Jim learn about color mixing and painting.   They were so much fun and adorable together.  So glad they had a fun time and created this great memory at The Studio. Nice work!

Each Participant Receives a Print of their Creation

Each Participant Receives a Print of their Creation

The Creative Team Building art went to its permanent home yesterday.  We hung the work of art at the Humane Society of Warren County Shelter where it will reside as a permanent reminder to the participants of their team building experience as well as providing a bright and cheery focal point near the cat area.  (Remember this is the wonderful creation of the Feline Staff of the Shelter.  Read that here.)

Creative Team Building is a terrific way for businesses/corporations to hold retreats or team building events.  These also work great for Bridal Showers, Baby Showers and Graduation Celebrations.  The guest of honor then has a fabulous piece of art for their new space.

And the participants don’t get left out. Each participant gets a print of the finished painting to mat and frame to enjoy.  To learn more about Creative Team Building read about it here….and schedule your event soon.

CITR Retreat June 2015 Painting CITR Retreat EaselsThe Wildflower Retreat at Sassafras Farm (Chickens in the Road) was a fabulous success!  We had so much fun learning all about wildflowers and all the things we can do with them from pickling, to frying, to making jelly and infused oils, and much, much more.  And of course, we painted wildflowers too!

And if you missed out on all the fun there will be another Wildflower Retreat in the fall – September 12-13, 2015.  Check that out here.

These ladies were loads of fun and we laughed constantly.  Thanks ladies for making this Retreat such a delight!

Team Building is a catch phrase that has been somewhat overworked in the past decade.  Co-workers have rolled logs, fallen from heights expecting to be caught, solved mysteries and many, many more scenarios.  And while all of these are interesting and do build skills to work together, we feel like The Studio has the ultimate “Team Building” activity – PAINTING!

We offer a unique experience where team members paint a portion of an image and must work together to coordinate lines and colors to make the painting a success.  Discussion ensues and the team pulls together to make the project come together.  And the best part – the team takes the painting back to their place of business to hang where it is a constant reminder of the teamwork needed to make it work!  We love it.

Here is the Humane Society of Warren County’s Feline Team with their beautiful painting.  And can you believe they did this is just a little more than 2 hours!  Success!!!  It will soon be hanging at the Shelter for all to see and enjoy and to be a reminder to this successful team of the collaboration that made it possible.
