We have had a visitor staying with us this week.

DAISY!  She is a little Westie that just turned one year old.

What fun she has been.  She has stirred Lincoln up and Jed has just tried to steer clear of the craziness.  Since she is just a puppy she has gotten into a lot of “things” this week and been very lively.  🙂

It has been VERY cold this week so I put one of Mamie’s sweater’s on Daisy but it was a little large.  That just meant one thing – Daisy needed a sweater made just for her!  (Here is the pattern for the dog sweater.  It is written for a dog the size of Lincoln but you can adjust it for larger or smaller dogs.)

So I made this green sweater using bulky yarn.  And of course, we needed to decorate it with a daisy – her signature flower.  I think she looks adorable.

Daisy goes home this eveningg and we will miss her terribly.  But the good news is that she just lives a few doors down the street so I am hoping I can convince her mom that she needs to come back often for more adventures.  What do you think?

20150109_131822_resizedViolets by the Window” is a painting that I have been working on for several weeks with the group I teach at The Village at Orchard Ridge.  The ladies there are very good painters and they enjoy a challenge.  This painting is an acrylic on canvas panel measuring 9″x12″.

New Year-page0001I just read an article about the top New Year’s Resolutions and how most are broken.  😦

The first is to lose weight or get fit.  The second is to quit smoking.  But the third is to  learn something new.  It’s an exciting resolution…there are so many things to learn.

Well, we can help you with this one so that it is not broken!  Come to The Studio-A Place for Learning and pick up a new skill or hobby.  Learn to paint, sew, crochet, decorate cookies, become better with social media, quilt, make jewelry, and much, much more.  You can see the current schedule by going to The Studio’s website here.

Consider learning something new this year.  It’s not too late to make that resolution….and KEEP IT!

The kids painted some beautiful “Birch Trees at Night” in their class yesterday.  Super work!  They look great.

And I had a teaching assistant at all my classes yesterday.  Daisy is a one-year-old Westie who is a neighbor’s pup.  They had to go out-of-town on an emergency last Sunday night and so Daisy came to stay with us.  She is an adorable, sweet little girl…but make no mistake she is ALL terrier…full of life and mischief!  We are enjoying her.

Janet modeling Infinity Scarf

I spent some time working on another Infinity Scarf.  We have a Beginning Crochet class coming up this Sunday at The Studio and I made one sample scarf but decided to do another and make it a little smaller so the students can see the difference.

Lincoln was nice enough to model this one for me since Janet wasn’t here to model like she did the first one.  🙂

Be sure to check out the calendar for classes coming up at The Studio-A Place for Learning.

Reference photo of Walker

I did this little sketch of Walker, my niece Lex’s old Chocolate Lab that died this past year.  He was a wonderful old boy and she grew up with him.

I want to do a little portrait of him and will hopefully get that done soon for her.  He was wonderful.

January 2015 1st Saturday Paint Party

January 2015 1st Saturday Paint Party

The 1st Saturday Paint Party yesterday was painting fruit in miniature.  And boy, did everyone do a great job!  These turned out so good.  We worked in acrylic on 6″x6″ stretched canvas.

Each month on the 1st Saturday we have a Paint Party where we try something different each time.  The great part is that all supplies are included so all you need to do is make a reservation and show up.  Then after a couple of hours you will go home with a wonderful completed painting!  Why don’t you join us next time – February 7th at 3 pm?

Beach Scene in Watercolor Debbies Beach Scene Debbies 1996Here are two more older paintings that Brother and sister-in-law have hanging in their home.

As a daily painter there was a time that I was painting about 250-300 paintings a year…mostly smaller pieces.  Producing so many I lost track of many of them.  I did start keeping better records a few years ago but these were produced before that time.

It’s thrilling for an artist to see their work hanging in homes.  So I really got a kick when visiting Brother’s home to see these.  So glad they enjoy my work.

Morgan's Tea Paty

Morgan’s Tea Paty

Years ago I gave one of the first large paintings that I ever did to my niece, Morgan.  I probably painted this in the early to mid 90’s.  She was a young girl at the time that I gave it to her and it hung in her room.  While visiting Brother’s family this week at their new home Morgan showed me her bedroom….and there it was, hanging on the wall.  I love that she still enjoys it all these years later!

The gift of art lasts forever!!!
