Two of my weekly art students completed paintings yesterday. Ethan comes to the Kids class from 4:15-5:15 and he did a palette knife painting from a live set up of flowers. That’s a challenge and he did a great job with it. Lauren attends Wednesday evening class at 5:30 pm. She did this lovely little sunflower to hang in her daughter’s room. Beautiful….nice work! If you would like to learn to paint or improved your painting skills join us for art class. Here’s more information here.

The kids did an awesome job on their sunflower paintings yesterday. Great work!
And then, because I had on my “Bob Ross for President” Tee shirt they asked who he is. So we watched a few minutes of Bob on Netflix. They loved him…..what’s not to love about Bob Ross??!!

Here is the “Painting with Paper” Sunflower that I made at the class at The Studio this past Sunday. This type of art is so much fun…tearing paper and arranging it into something lovely. Denise has agreed to come back on Sunday, October 16th to teach another one so mark your calendars now!

It’s time to paint flowers for a change. And we have some really nice ones coming up. We will be doing either Poppies or Sunflowers at a Paint Party on Saturday night, March 26th in Clarksville, TN. You can register for that one by clicking here.
But we will also be doing them in Front Royal soon too. The date for the sunflower one is coming soon but the Poppies we will do as a fundraiser for Mountain Laurel Montessori School in April. Info on registration will be out soon. The event will be on Sunday afternoon, April 24th.
Won’t these be fun and look beautiful hanging in your home?!

I spent a delightful morning painting a sunflower field at a beautiful farm north of town yesterday.
It has been awhile since I have been out to paint and I had almost forgotten how much I enjoyed it.
As with most Plein Air paintings that I do this one is almost finished but will get a little adjustment now that I have it in the studio. You can see the step-by-step progress in this collage.
Sunflower View I is an oil on canvas panel measuring 11″ x 14″. SOLD!
