The kids painted like Van Gogh yesterday..but with a daytime sunflower scene. Nice work. And of course, Lincoln tried to sneak a kiss in during the photo shoot. Silly boy!

Special Paint Party

We often do private Paint Parties and I love to do them but from time to time I can’t make my schedule work with the client’s request. This week, luckily, we were able to work it out so that I could provide a guest teacher for the Paint Party at Virginia Hills Church. Thanks Debbie Ray for teaching and Melissa Reploeg for inviting The Studio to lead your event. I loved seeing y’alls photos. It looks like it was so much fun!

Yesterday our young Art Campers painted Georgia O’Keeffe’s “A Sunflower from Maggie”. They decided that a blue background would be nice instead of the tan original. They did an awesome job! We still have one session of camp for ages 5-7 left this summer on July 30-31. Click here to register. There are two sessions of camp remaining this summer for ages 8-13 too. Click here and scroll down to see the dates and register.

Creating with paper is fun! Here is the Sunflower that I started at the Capon Springs retreat. I love the many different papers that make up the petals.

Sunflower Quilts

Yesterday we made Sunflower Rag Quilts at The Studio. What a beautiful project. Everyone’s looks different as they all selected their fabrics. This is a little more advanced than our beginner Rag Quilt (you can register for the next beginning rag quilt here) so you need a little experience to sew the flower. We’ll be doing it again at the first of the year. We are thinking of a daisy…either white or a pink gerber!
