I always say that there is art all around us.  Every where you go you can see art if you are just looking for it.  While in Atlanta this past holiday season we visited the “World of Coca-Cola”, a museum that follows the history of Coke along with the advertising associated with it.  There was MUCH art to see there.

Most of it was Pop Art…a movement from the 1950’s and 60’s that was led by artists like Andy Warhol that was a nod to pop culture and was inspired by advertising.

In the 1960s, Lichtenstein became a leading figure of the new Pop Art movement. Inspired by advertisements and comic strips, Lichtenstein’s bright, graphic works parodied American popular culture and the art world itself. He died in New York City on September 29, 1997.  Read more about him here.

Art Camp Session 2 final day outsideYesterday our young artists painted in the Pop Art style of Andy Warhol.  Half the group selected Eagles and the other half painted Flamingos.

Didn’t they do an AMAZING job?  Great work kids.  I hope you will come paint with me again.
