When Edouard Manet was 49 he knew he was dying. He continued working but on a smaller scale than most of his work. Over the last months of his life he painted a series of small exquisite still lifes….mostly bouquets brought to him by friends who visited him while he was sick. We will recreate some of these over the next year. We will paint the first one, “Lilacs in a Glass” on Sunday, June 29th at 2 pm. Replicating famous painters work improves and teaches us a variety of skills. Join us on this journey to explote Manet’s final works at these Famous Painter sessions. We started the 2nd week of Art Camp studying Edouard Manet and painting his Yellow Rose. These kids did a GREAT job with this one. First we created our own color wheels and talked about color mixing and that allowed us to get a good idea of how to make our paintings look like Manet’s. Today we study Monet.
