I have been working on a couple of new paintings in the “Tea” series. We have a new Chocolate and Tea shop in town, Shenandoah Confections at 126 E. Main Street, that has asked me to hang some work there so I have been freshening up the series. Here is the first one: Tea Bag on Red, 6″x6″ gallery wrap canvas, acrylic.

Maggie is an acrylic on 12″x12″ canvas. I was just told yesterday that she was a big hit with her recipient. I like hearing that.

I was thrilled to be asked over the last month or two to do several commissions this Christmas. I have been waiting to post them on my blog so that I would not spoil the surprise for those receiving them as gifts. Now I can share them with you.
“Walking the Boardwalk” is a watercolor of a father with his kids walking down a boardwalk. I love the image that was sent to me so it was a really fun piece to do.

Rex, a beautiful border collie, is a commission that I did as a Christmas present. I just got this message on Facebook from Sue, the recipient: “Thank you so much for doing a painting of my dog Rex (border collie) for my brother as a gift to me. It is just beautiful!”
I love hearing back from people who have received presents.

Yesterday afternoon we had the Kid’s “Paint Your Own Pet Portrait” Workshop. It was so much fun!!!! The kids did superb work on their portraits. We had dogs, cats, and horses. They were all so different and all so good! Great job young artists. I love seeing the enthusiasm of young painters creating beautiful art.
Many thanks to my good friend and great painter, Linda, who helped with this large group. Couldn’t have done it without your help.
We have an adult workshop today from 4-7. Let me know if you want to come join us.

This little guy is Oliver. He belongs to a wonderful friend in Kentucky and he was so adorable I had to paint his portrait. He is an acrylic on panel measuring 6″x6″. Could he be any cuter?

I love watching students finish paintings that they are working on in class. Jeff paints with us when he is in town and he just completed this wonderful sunflower painting as a Christmas gift. It turned out great and I know they will be thrilled to receive such a wonderful surprise.
You may know Jeff as Breezy’s dad. Breeze comes to class to and we love it when she does. Here’s an old picture of Breeze posing with the kids at art camp one summer. Of course, the kids loved seeing her come in for class! If you are interested in joining a class contact kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com. We would love to have you!
