While working at Delilah’s Art & Gift Shop on Sunday I set up a table on the porch and painted.  I like to do that because people are curious and will ask questions about art and painting when they see you working on a piece.  This is a look at the progression of my Sunday painting.

CAM07564A few days ago I posted Geraniums in the Window (see it here) and said that I needed to touch it up a little  more.  I did that last night.  I darkened the shadow under the window and added some texture to the wall.  Also, I hit the flowers with a little more light.  Now it’s finished.

Crocheted Wreath

CAM07389 CAM07388I saw one of these wreathes in a magazine recently and just loved it.  I had to make one.  It was fun to use up some of the left-over yarn stash and create something pretty as well.

I have been asked to share more of my patterns (I make up a lot as I go) and patterns that I use.  I am trying to write out some of mine and as soon as I do I will put a new page here on my blog for crochet where I will share my patterns and links to the others that I use.  Hope to have it up for you soon.

Speaking to Girl Scouts about art

Speaking to Girl Scouts about art

CAM07245Yesterday I was asked to speak to a group of Girl Scouts about being a full-time artist.  They were a great group of girls who toured the Blue Ridge Arts Council before our session and had several questions about art.  I was working on the demonstration painting for our 1st Saturday Paint Party so they watched as I completed the flowers.  They enjoyed it so much that they want to come back and do a little painting.  So we will meet again later in the month!

I did finish the demo painting for this Saturday’s Paint Party and there are still a couple of seats open if you want to join us and paint this little geranium painting.  Contact me today.

Ethan and Madeline's Daffodils

Ethan and Madeline’s Daffodils

We had a successful day at our kid’s and adult art classes yesterday.  Ethan and Madeline (a brand-new student) painted these fabulous spring daffodils.  I love the blue background and bright yellow impressionistic flowers.  Great work!

Logan's Owl

Logan’s Owl

And in the adult class, Logan finished this adorable owl.  Logan started in my kids class several years ago and then moved up to the adult group this past year.  She’s a natural!  She has picked up every tip I have thrown out and applied it to her work.  I am so proud of you Logan.  SUPER!

Nick's Peonies

Nick’s Peonies

And the peony painting is by Nicholas another adult student who began painting with me last fall.  He didn’t want his photo taken but I had to share the beautiful painting he just completed.  Nick paints meticulously and it shows in his beautiful work.

Great job everyone!
