Over the past week there have been some beautiful flowers blooming. This is the perfect time to take photos of different arrangements on different backgrounds and at different angles to build your reference library. There may not be time to paint them all right now but you can have the photos for later when there is time to paint. Take lots of photos during this time of the year to increase your selection of subject matter. It’s the perfect time.

Small Crochet Flower

After I got tagged yesterday on Facebook about a Yarn Bombing there was a lot of conversation about that as well as making small crochet flowers to put in trees to make it look like spring until spring arrives. There are so many flower patterns but here is a simple little one that always turns out nice and can be made with 4 or 5 petals. Give it a try.

Small Flower

Ch 4 and join with sl st.

Round 1: Ch 1 and then 4 sc in ring, sl st in top or ch 1 to join

Round 2: ch 4, 2tr, ch 4, sl st in same stitch. Sl st in next chain.

Repeat in each sc to make 5 petals.

Cut yarn, weave in ends.

Paint for Life Party

Yesterday evening we had a Paint Party to benefit a Relay for Life team. Thanks Lynn for the great idea and thanks to everyone who came out to paint.

We did a lovely painting of Hydrangeas Along the Fence. And everyone did a fabulous job! Good work.

This photo was recently posted on Facebook by a dear friend in Nashville who has this little painting that I did when I first started painting. I’m not sure if there is a date on it but I would guess it was in the early 1990’s. I am delighted that Jean is still enjoying this little piece of art. Thanks for sharing it with me Jean. The demonstration painting from The Village at Orchard Ridge class is finally complete. (Here is an earlier look at this painting.) Since we only meet 2 Fridays per month it takes a little longer to complete these. And I want to be sure the students get their painting to the place they want it to be before we call it done. They all did great!

Now to see what they want to paint next!

Surprise Birthday Paint Party

We had a surprise birthday Paint Party last night at The Studio. What a great and fun way for girlfriends to have a unique celebration.
