I am always so proud of my art students and love sharing their work with you.  I often post photos of the kids paintings and forget to take photos of the adults as they finish their paintings.  But yesterday it seems that everyone was finishing paintings at the same time so I got some great shots.  These are all Wednesday morning or evening students.  Keep it up girls.  Great job by all!!!

Acrylic Paints

Acrylic Paints

I am using acrylic paints for the baseball parks that I am doing for the Kickstarter project.  I chose acrylic for a couple of reasons.  First, they dry quickly which makes it easier to put in the details I need in the background scenery. And second, because acrylic dries quicker than oils I can store these paintings as I work on them.  Thirty 18″ x 24″ canvas are not easy to store so being able to stack them really helps.  🙂

As you can see from the photo there is quite a few different brands.  As I tell my students in art class, every painter has to explore different brands and colors and find their own favorites.  These are some of mine.  Here are the acrylics I am using:

Winsor & Newton Artists’ Acrylic: Graphite Grey, Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Light, Yellow Ochre, Buff Titanium, Naphthol Red Medium, Permanent Sap Green

Master’s Touch Acrylic:  Pale Blue, Warm Grey, Flesh Yellow

Atelier Interactive Artists’ Acrylic:  French Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Umber

Fundamentals Artist Acrylic:  Azo Red Deep, Red Ochre, Crimson

SoHo Urban Acrylic:  Burnt Sienna

Allen Montague Fine Non-toxic Acrylics:  St. Johns Blue

Chase Field Arizona Diamondbacks

Chase Field
Arizona Diamondbacks

Just finished Chase Field – Home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.  It’s the first domed field that I’ve painted.  It was a very different experience than the others.   There are 5 more domed fields to paint.

Because of the hot weather in Arizona,  Chase is completely air-conditioned.  Wow!

This is the 10th painting in the series.  Just 20 more to go!  🙂

Barn – Laying in Background and Foreground

I had a delightful day of painting at Long Green yesterday.  (See here the set-up for my first painting there.)  Here is the progress I made.  It was a bright sunny day so the shadows kept moving…and fast!  But I got the first painting, the barn to a point of about 85% finished.

Barn - Only Details Left to Paint

Barn – Only Details Left to Paint

Now I will tinker on it in the studio until it’s done.  The Long Green Paint Out is for an upcoming fundraiser for Blue Ridge Hospice.  They are going to have a “Decorator’s Showcase” there in September that will be open to the public.  More info to come as I get it.  And our paintings will be on display and for sale to benefit Hospice.

Kids with Chase Chase with RueYesterday at Kid’s class we had a great time painting something a little more challenging than usual.  But the kids jumped right in and did a great job.  We painted from this cute photo of my godson Chase with his dog Rue!  They are waiting at the door for their dad to come home.  Could he be any more cute?

Great job everyone!

Southerlands GaylorAnd I am sad to say that I will no longer be working with the wonderful ladies at the Southerlands.  They have discontinued their art program.  I will miss all the fun we have had.  Here is Miss Gaylor with the last painting I helped her paint.  I will miss them.
