Large Class of Painters

Full ClassWe had a large group of painters last night for art class.  And everyone is working on something different.  I really love seeing so many people developing their painting skills.  If you are interested in painting join us for a Wednesday or Thursday art class or for a 1st Saturday Paint Party.  We would love to see you painting too!

Cathy and CatMy students  continue to do wonderful work each week painting everything from landscapes to still life to portraits.  Yesterday in class Cathy finished this beautiful painting of her cat.  Outstanding job!  I know you will love having it hanging on your wall.

October Paint PartyWe had the October 1st Saturday Paint Party yesterday and what a good time we had!  Everyone did a fabulous job on their floral painting.  While we used the same techniques they all turned out so different.  I love it!  Super work everyone.  The November 1st Saturday Paint Party will be November 2 from 4-6:30 at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.  We will be painting a landscape.  Consider joining us to create your own “masterpiece”.

Paint Party Idea 2Paint Parties are soooo much fun.  And you can come to one this Saturday from 4-6:30 at the Blue Ridge Arts Council on Main Street in Front Royal.  If you have never painted before, that’s fine.  If you have experience painting, that’s fine.  This is all about having fun and creating something beautiful.  Join us Saturday afternoon.  Bring a friend!  Have a great time and paint. We will provide everything you need to create a masterpiece to take home and impress everyone.

Kids VineyardLogan and Ethan did a great job yesterday in the Kid’s Art Class painting a beautiful view of a Shenandoah Valley vineyard.  Super!

If you have a young person, ages 7-13 that is interested in painting contact kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com and sign them up for a painting class.  It’s a great way for them to learn about color mixing and composition in a fun and productive environment.  And just look at the wonderful art they have at the end of each class!

Several months ago Pat came to class excited about this dog she had met recently at her family reunion.  She said it was the prettiest dog she had ever seen.  “It’s pretty as a cow!”, she said.  🙂  That’s high praise from Pat – she loves cows!  Here is the beautiful painting she just completed in art class of this pretty dog.  Great job Pat!

Kids with Kloe Sonjas new kittyOne of the things I love about Facebook is all the terrific photos that my friends post…especially those of their pets.  And I am lucky that my friends are kind enough to give me permission to paint from their photos when I ask.  That happened this week with my friend Sonja and her new kitten Kloe.  She posted this adorable photo of Kloe looking out the window and the kids class painted her yesterday.  GREAT job everyone!  I love it.

We had a fun lesson yesterday with my young artist.  We transformed an old canvas that had been painted as an abstract and turned it into a fun post-impressionist painting in the style of Matisse.  Take a look at the before and after.  What do you think?
