Of course, this was the most fun the kids have had painting so far.  Here they are with their finished paintings and at work:

I have been so impressed with the young artists I have met this summer during the weeks of Art Camp that we have been having at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.  We have been having loads of fun painting wonderful art.

Today another camp started – Famous Painters week.  We started as always with the color wheel and making all these colors just using yellow, red and blue.

Then we painted like the first famous artist we are studying this week, Monet.  And we only used those three colors -yellow, blue and red, plus white to create this entire painting.

What do you think?  Didn’t they do a fantastic job!!!???

The final painting during Modern Art Week Camp was a study of Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Can.

And look at the fabulous job each of these young artists did with their painting.

All ten students did beautiful work this whole week.

There are only two weeks of art camp left this summer.  The week of August 8 and the week of August 22.  Both of these weeks will explore a variety of styles from impressionism to modern.  There are only a couple of slots left in each week so sign your young artist up now.  Email me at kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com .

Art Camp continues.  This week our focus is on Modern Art.  First we produced a color wheel to learn more about color mixing.

Then we applied what we had learned about color to painting  Rothko-like modern paintings.

The young artists did a great job producing these wonderful colors using only blue, yellow, red and white on their palettes.  Don’t you think?
