I had a small but talented group for the two-day Art Camp this week.  Zoey, a new student for me, did a fabulous job painting a cow from her grandparents farm and their cute chocolate lab pup, Lincoln.

Art Camp Week 1 Final Day Trading CardsThere are just 3 weeks of Art Camp left this summer.  And they are almost full so if you know of a young painter (ages 7-13) you need to sign them up.  You can find all the information you need to know on the Art Camp page by clicking here.

These are the dates and age groups still open:

Ages 5 – 7  (10 a.m.- Noon)  $50 per session  –  

August 11 – 12-   Post-Impressionists (Matisse  & Van Gogh)

Ages 8 – 13  (9 a.m. – Noon)   $150 per session – 

July 21 – 24 – Local Flavor (Paint Your Own Pet Portrait or House)

August 4 – 7  –  Famous Painters (Cassett, Van Gogh, Manet)

Art Camp Session 2 final day outsideYesterday our young artists painted in the Pop Art style of Andy Warhol.  Half the group selected Eagles and the other half painted Flamingos.

Didn’t they do an AMAZING job?  Great work kids.  I hope you will come paint with me again.

The first session of Art Camp ended yesterday with the young painters completing a beautiful copy of Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s, (1841-1919) “Girl with a Watering Can” , painted in 1876 and now at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC.

These artists were not deterred by the large size we decided to paint our “masterpiece” and they all did extraordinary work.  Great job girls!  It was a pleasure painting with you this week.

Yesterday we had the first day of Art Camp.  With 7 fabulous young artists working hard all morning they created their version of Edouard Manet’s (1832-1883)  “Pinks and Clematis in a Crystal Vase”, oil on canvas 22″x14″, painted in 1882 in Paris and currently on display at Musée d’Orsay, Paris, France.

I think their versions look GREAT!  How about you?

We wrapped up the last day of Art Camp with Van Gogh’s Chair.  The young artists painted a large version and did a fabulous job.  This was a delightful group of kids who are really good painters.
