We had a great day at The Studio yesterday.  Two Paint Parties…..a wonderful group of friends in the morning who painted Mountain Wildflowers and then a new group of friends in the afternoon painting Sail Away.  Nice work everyone!

20170601_071211 Michele has been working on this gorgeous abstract painting for a couple of weeks at class.  Sometimes we all need to paint an abstract to loosen up and get our creative juices flowing.  That is what Michele did and it turned out amazing.  Great work!

We painted a floral painting this week in the style of Matisse.  The kids got to pick their colors and they went right to work. We talked about Matisse as I get ready to go see a Matisse exhibit in Boston.  Can’t wait to see it.

One of the best places to get some colorful and interesting reference photos is at Farmer’s Markets.  Sunday I rode over to Little Washington with my friend Sandra.  We wanted to check out their market and even though it was drizzling rain we found some nice things (bread, baskets, and tea) as well as got a few nice shots for future paintings.

I finished my project using the Butterfly Stitch.  It worked up quickly and looks nice.  I like trying different stitches to see what effects we can get.  This one will work well for scarves, shawls, blankets, etc. You can find an easy to follow pattern here.

Sometimes you find art in the most unusual places.  Yesterday morning while walking my boys we saw this down the street at a neighbors house.  They have lots of kids so I don’t know which ones did it but I love it!

20170528_062724I had a chance to experiment with a couple of new stitches.  This is the Butterfly Stitch using Caron Cakes (that I love).  The self striping yarn is so much fun and so easy to work with because you don’t have to change yarn over and over again to get a beautiful look.  It does the work for you!  Don’t you LOVE it?!

A couple of our quilting students completed their Patriotic Table  Runners.  Great work Amber and Ruth!  I love how these turned out…just beautiful.

The kids painted flags for Memorial Day at their classes this week.  Beautiful!
