20190522_174319.jpgThe kids were preparing for Memorial Day as they painted these wonderful flag renditions at class yesterday.  Many thanks to Kelly Pauley for leading this class.

20190521_163250.jpg I brought my Garden Princess in for a make-over.  She’s looking better. (You can read about her creation here.)  I didn’t take her in over the winter so she was a little worn but now she’s good as new.  And since we have an upcoming workshop for making these cuties I wanted her to look her best.  Why don’t you join us on Saturday, June 22nd at 2 pm to make one for your flower or vegetable garden.  They add a splash of color and whimsey to every garden.  Click here to learn more and register.

20190517_154048.jpgWe used palette knives to paint these beautiful apple blossoms over the last week or so with our international students.  We found that painting with a palette knife is harder than it looks.  Nice work ladies.

20190519_171639.jpgWe had a great little fundraiser for the Women of the Moose yesterday.  Nice work everyone.

20190518_074604.jpgThe kid’s painted these red barns….although some changed them to dog houses at class this week.  LOL

Happy Creek in Plein AirA few weeks ago we painted down by Happy Creek en plein air (outside in open air).  It was a fun morning and I got a good start to a little landscape.  (See that post here.) Yesterday I got around to finishing this one.  And we will be offering it as a Paint Party on Tuesday, June 4th at 6 pm.  Click here to register.

We painted more Barn Quilts on Tuesday afternoon and didn’t they turn out great?!  Nice work ladies.

20190514_194210.jpgWe’ve added a new Red, White and Blue Garden Pole to mix.  It’s my favorite.

Spotlight-on-Women-1-600x600We were honored to be asked to be part of the “Spotlight on Women” coming up this Thursday at 6 pm at Samuel’s Public Library and sponsored by the Front Royal Women’s Resource Center.  We hope you will attend.  The annual Spotlight Program highlights the achievements of women in our community and also supports The Front Royal Women’s Resource Center mission of empowering women to change their world. This year’s program, Main Street Women of Warren County, will give voice to the growing number of women business leaders in our community who make Front Royal a better place to live.
Women-owned businesses currently make up 39% of the 28 million small businesses operating across the United States and the U.S. Census Bureau shows that the number of women-owned businesses increased by 45% from 2007 to 2016. The Main Street Women of Warren County panel discussion will spotlight the importance of women-owned and operated business in our community and also highlight the unique accomplishments and challenges faced by our local women business leaders.
Panelists include Jean Plauger, Owner Jean’s Jewelers, Kerry Barnhart, Owner of Vibe Properties & Front Royal Brewing Company and Kelly Walker, owner of The Studio-A Place for Learning. Felicia Hart, Director of Tourism & Community Development for the Town of Front Royal will serve as a moderator for the event.
