After the fun at the Reunion and visiting with old friends, my sister and I packed up again to head north…this time to come home. I got to visit with her three pups and kitty before we left and then we made a stop in Hilton Head to check on a couple of things before hitting I-95 and running another 10 hours in the car. I can’t remember the last time I put in so many miles in such a short time….we logged around 2000 on this quick circle trip….but it was good to get home…where the Stinkin’ Lincoln was waiting!
So we are in Nashville….we see Hannah perform at the Grand Ole Opry (see yesterday’s blog post) and she kills it! We go to the after party at the Nashville Palace…also a great time seeing how excited everyone was for her. By this time it’s 11 pm and we have to be in south Georgia the next day so we load up and drive from Nashville to Clyo, Georgia…my sister’s home. This takes about 9 hours! But we get there by 8:30 am so we have time to take a nap and then get up to go again…leaving about 3:30 to drive another 2 hours to Patterson, Georgia…a little town where I attended high school. It’s my 40th class reunion and I hadn’t been back since the 10 year reunion so I didn’t want to miss it. Our school, Patterson High School, was so small that it has an “All-Class” Reunion so folks attend from every year. It’s great to see old friends and catch up. I wish more could have made it but the ones who did had a marvelous time. Our old school has been remodeled and made into a community center and they did an excellent job with it. It’s the perfect space for events. I’m so glad I went and I won’t wait so long to go back again.

Last Thursday I began a fast trip…with lots of miles! It seems that when things happen they all happen at once. For months I had been planning to go back to my home in Georgia for my 40th High School class reunion. That would have been a relaxed visit except that a few weeks before I was to leave I got a call from my sister telling me that her step-daughter was going to make her Grand Ole Opry debut the night before my reunion…and of course, we had to go to Nashville for that. So instead of heading to south Georgia I flew to Nashville. The good news was I got to see one of my very best friends and spend the day with her while we ran around in Nashville. And on Friday evening we saw Hannah Dasher make her debut at the Opry! ( Photos: Hannah on stage at the Opry; with her dad; and the Opry Entrance) It was very exciting…and she was awesome!!!! That started leg one of a crazy trip.

We often do private Paint Parties and I love to do them but from time to time I can’t make my schedule work with the client’s request. This week, luckily, we were able to work it out so that I could provide a guest teacher for the Paint Party at Virginia Hills Church. Thanks Debbie Ray for teaching and Melissa Reploeg for inviting The Studio to lead your event. I loved seeing y’alls photos. It looks like it was so much fun!

Yesterday the kids had a rare treat….we painted big Pumpkin Door Hangers instead of a canvas. These were NICE! And the kids did an awesome job. Lincoln was so impressed that he photo bombed their class photo. Kids class is every Wednesday at 4:15-5:15 pm. If you have a young painter that is interested contact kwalker@thestudioforlearning.com .
