We made a quick trip to the Quilt Show in Chantilly yesterday. It was the first time I had been and I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the quilts on display. The amazing work that went into these beautiful creations was too hard to even describe. Here is just a sampling of what I saw.
And speaking of sampling…… I am obsessed with these sampler quilts. I think this is the next big project. And of course, there were wonderful vendors with terrific new projects for us to try.
I particularly love the things at “Epicurean Boutique”. Patty Vatter had the most glorious patterns for handwork. You need to check her out on Facebook to catch her next show.

The National Gallery of Art brings wonderful works of art to the public (for free admission) that would not ordinarily be on view. An example is the recent purchase of Gerard van Honthorst’s monumental masterwork, The Concert, that was acquired by the National Gallery in 2013 and went on display for the first time in 218 years.
Sometimes you get an opportunity to gather reference material that is out of the ordinary.
