Bread Making

Yesterday morning, before my sister has to leave to go home to Georgia (she came up to take care of Lincoln so I could go on my trip to Cape Cod for the art workshop), she gave me and my friend Ruth a lesson in bread making. She makes a ton of it where she lives as people are always requesting it for family events and fundraising. It’s a marvelous cinnamon-raisin bread. We even tried a variation using apples….and it turned out great too! It was fun to do something a little different from creating art…the only problem is that you can’t just eat one slice. Before you know it a half of a loaf is gone. Oops!
Angus Wilson Workshop Day 2

I can’t remember when I have enjoyed something this much! I don’t get to paint the things I like as often as I like these days as I am always working on projects for classes but this is a style I really LOVE! And to learn from Angus…an artist whose work I love…has been a joy. He makes it look easy….but trust me, it’s NOT! But it is fun and I am learning so much. Here is some of what I did yesterday…and after studying it last night I can’t wait to get there this morning and make a few changes. That’s how we learn!
Big Circle Trip – Leg 2 – The Reunion

So we are in Nashville….we see Hannah perform at the Grand Ole Opry (see yesterday’s blog post) and she kills it! We go to the after party at the Nashville Palace…also a great time seeing how excited everyone was for her. By this time it’s 11 pm and we have to be in south Georgia the next day so we load up and drive from Nashville to Clyo, Georgia…my sister’s home. This takes about 9 hours! But we get there by 8:30 am so we have time to take a nap and then get up to go again…leaving about 3:30 to drive another 2 hours to Patterson, Georgia…a little town where I attended high school. It’s my 40th class reunion and I hadn’t been back since the 10 year reunion so I didn’t want to miss it. Our school, Patterson High School, was so small that it has an “All-Class” Reunion so folks attend from every year. It’s great to see old friends and catch up. I wish more could have made it but the ones who did had a marvelous time. Our old school has been remodeled and made into a community center and they did an excellent job with it. It’s the perfect space for events. I’m so glad I went and I won’t wait so long to go back again.
Big Circle – Leg 1 – The Opry

Last Thursday I began a fast trip…with lots of miles! It seems that when things happen they all happen at once. For months I had been planning to go back to my home in Georgia for my 40th High School class reunion. That would have been a relaxed visit except that a few weeks before I was to leave I got a call from my sister telling me that her step-daughter was going to make her Grand Ole Opry debut the night before my reunion…and of course, we had to go to Nashville for that. So instead of heading to south Georgia I flew to Nashville. The good news was I got to see one of my very best friends and spend the day with her while we ran around in Nashville. And on Friday evening we saw Hannah Dasher make her debut at the Opry! ( Photos: Hannah on stage at the Opry; with her dad; and the Opry Entrance) It was very exciting…and she was awesome!!!! That started leg one of a crazy trip.
