One of the amazing groups of quilts that we saw at QuiltCon in Raleigh was these called “Swimming Upstream”. They were fascinating. Such a simple subject but who would have thought to make it into quilts.

Our March banners turned out great! Just look at them. We had both sessions of our classes yesterday and had lots of fun with these leprechaun hats and clovers. Great work everyone!

This is one of the quilts that won Best at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show in the Traditional Machine Workmanship category. It was beautiful!

And here are two more winners….one in the Modern category and the other was Best in Show….called Sherbert on a Cloudy Day…..AMAZING!!!! There were many beautiful quilts and we’ll share more in the next few days.

Finally got Lincoln off of the String Quilt blocks long enough to complete this throw. I’ve been trying to use up some scraps. It seems like they multiply when I put them in the bin to wait for a project. I’m going to try to eliminate the huge scrap supply this year. Right!!!

Yesterday I attended QuiltCon for the first time. It was held in Raleigh this year. It’s the largest Modern Quilt Show in the world. I was not disappointed! There were so many amazingly beautiful quilts….unique and colorful. And then there were minimalist designs. This one, Mulberry Swirl by Kelly Spell of Hixson TN won the Minimalist category. It is so simple but gorgeous. The show runs through Sunday so if you can get to Raleigh’s Convention Center it is worth the trip!

The 2023 Temperature Quilt just got back from the long-arm quilter. It’s all done. It shows the high and low temperatures for each day. You can read more about it here. There are 795 pieces in the quilt top. This is the first Temperature Quilt that I have made. I have crocheted a Temperature blanket before and you can see that here. Will there be another Temperature Quilt this year? Well, I’m not sure yet. I’m still searching for just the right design. All I can say is maybe. I really enjoyed making it so there probably will be. another one in the future. Stay tuned.

Our “Begin With a Star” Quilt class finished up last night. It took us a little longer than expected to complete the quilt but we had such a good time together that we didn’t mind at all. These new quilters did an amazing job on their quilts and aren’t they gorgeous????!!!! Nice work ladies. I can’t wait till the next time we quilt together. If you would like to learn to quilt check out the upcoming events at The Studio here.

Have you ever started working on a project and just could not stop until you got done? That’s what happened to me yesterday. I had an idea for this little fox applique to put on a modern stripe quilt that would be perfect for a little person and once I got the applique cut out I couln’t stop. So at 12:30 last night I finished this Quilt As You Go version of a striped quilt with the Little Fox Applique. I love him. This is two quilts in a row now that I am crazy about. Oh my! What to do next? (And check out the backing I used on this one. Isn’t it cute too???!!!)
