Our two Block of the Month classes made the beautiful Simplex Star for their sampler quilts yesterday. This is the 4th block finished of the 12 we are doing this year for our sampler. They look great! Nice work ladies. Can’t wait for the next one.

We had a great day of sewing and quilting yesterday at The Studio. After making totes in the morning we made Quilt as You Go Placemats in the afternoon. It’s fun to learn to do something new and learn techniques you can apply to other projects. Great work everyone!!!!

Just finished this Simplex Star quilt. It’s a variation on the Friendship Star and Lincoln seems to like it. This is the block our Block of the Month group is doing for our Sampler quilt but I liked it so much I wanted to do an entire quilt with it. I really like the way the diamonds highlight the stars. There were also a variety of String Quilts that were gifts for Christmas. These are so much fun to make especially as a Quilt as you Go. Every one turns out different even though the process is the same. I LOVE THESE!

At the same time I found the “Georgia State” fabric (see info here) I picked up some Virginia State fabric to make a quilt for my Virginia family members for Christmas. It made a great patchwork quilt.

For the last few months I have worked on quilts for Christmas gifts. Even though I live in Virginia now I will always be a Georgia girl and while shopping at Joann’s Fabrics I saw this “Georgia State” fabric. I asked the clerk why they had Georgia fabric in Virginia and she said she suspected that some store in Georgia must have a shipment of Virginia fabric. LOL! I bought enough to make quilts for several family members back home. They all liked them. I loved the fabric designs with peaches, flip flops and outlines of the state. Take a close look.

Little Trees Quilt
