We had a terrific time with a group of painters at North Fork Campground and Resort. They also provide an interesting subject for us to paint and this time it was the rails that run by there. Great work everyone. Can’t wait to see what we do next!

We created lovely little versions of Happy Creek last night at the Paint Party. As always, I love how we all have our own version even while looking at the same reference material. Each painter makes it their own. Nice work everyone!

A few weeks ago we painted down by Happy Creek en plein air (outside in open air). It was a fun morning and I got a good start to a little landscape. (See that post here.) Yesterday I got around to finishing this one. And we will be offering it as a Paint Party on Tuesday, June 4th at 6 pm. Click here to register.
Plein Air in the Park Seminar

Lincoln and I spent the day at Shenandoah National Park at the “Painting in the Park Seminar: Nature as a Starting Place” with Kevin H. Adams. Kevin was the 2017 Artist in Residence for the park. (Read and see more about that here.) The seminar focused on the challenges of plein air painting with the focus on landscapes. While the weather was a little damp and cool….and the clouds dropped down low on the top of the mountain so we couldn’t even see our subject for a little while, it was still a terrific seminar.
Kevin offered tips and suggestions to improve painting in plein air.
And being in the park is always nice. There is so much material so I took many reference photos that I hope to paint soon.

The kids painted this nice beach scene at class yesterday. Nice work!
Yesterday we painted a nice landscape with a barn…a place for our farm animals to live! These kids are doing great! Today is our final day….we are painting a cow! After camp yesterday morning a friend called with her grandkids in town and they came by in the afternoon and painted the same scene. Nice work done in a quick class.
