We had our first Manet’s Last Flowers Paint Party last Sunday and what a great job everyone did. This is one of the most difficult Famous Painters selections we have ever done. When they sometimes look easy, they can be a real challenge. These painters were up to it though. Nice work! Now get ready for the next one. Click here for more info and to register. And yes, this one will be easier. https://thestudio-104116.square.site/product/jul-27th-manet-s-last-flowers-series/5T43BS3YQWQ4WCS3DHJHQJBT?cs=true&cst=custom

When Edouard Manet was 49 he knew he was dying. He continued working but on a smaller scale than most of his work. Over the last months of his life he painted a series of small exquisite still lifes….mostly bouquets brought to him by friends who visited him while he was sick. We will recreate some of these over the next year. We will paint the first one, “Lilacs in a Glass” on Sunday, June 29th at 2 pm. Replicating famous painters work improves and teaches us a variety of skills. Join us on this journey to explote Manet’s final works at these Famous Painter sessions. One of the things that I do each week is to make samples, whether it’s quilting or painting, for upcoming classes. Trying to stay ahead of the schedule and predict what people might like to paint or quilt is a challenge. I am always open to suggestions! These two table toppers are samples that I worked up for our May Table Topper Quilt classes. They were fun to make but a bit of a challenge to make it work in the timeframe we have for class. Later this week you will see the ones that our classes make. They’ll choose their colors and I know they will be fabulous!

A few nights ago we had a really fun group of painters come together to paint these lovely hydrangeas. This group of family and close friends all knew the plant where these hydrangeas came from so the subject meant a lot to them. What fun. Thanks Tracey for letting us paint from your beautiful photo. They are great!

Lincoln and I hosted the most adorable group of young ladies at The Studio last night for a bachlorette Paint Party. They did a great job painting a “Garden Path”. They’ll be taking these back to Dallas, St. Louis, Charlotte, and DC. They were just delightful to paint with. They are staying in Front Royal until Monday with lots of fun activities planned.

From time to time I get requests for private lessons when grandchildren are here visiting their grandparents in the local community. That happened yesterday when I got to work with Emma and Zoe. They are in from New York spending time in the area and their grandmother hooked them up with an art lesson. They did great!
