This is Champ. Champ’s mom commissioned this painting for his dad for Christmas. And while Champ isn’t with us any longer so many people knew him as he went to work with them everyday. Several times while I was working on the commission at The Studio people came in and said, “Hey, is that Champ?” He was famous.
The family is into Nascar so we wanted to get the checkered flag motif in the painting too. I forgot to take a photo of the painting before he was picked up so they sent this one to me yesterday to share. I was so glad to hear that everyone loved it.

It’s been 7 years ago today that we drove over to St. Clairesville, OH to the animal shelter there to get our sweet Jed. There was a terrible snow storm going on but we had to get him because his future was very uncertain. And boy, aren’t we the lucky ones. Jed is the sweetest boy ever!
You can read more about how Jed got his name here. And read even more about his story here. You can see many, many photos of Sweet Jed here.
We love you Jed. Thanks for being our good boy. Happy Adoption Day!

The kids did a fabulous job painting Christmas puppies yesterday in art class. Wonderful!
If you have a young person ages 7 – 12 that might like to give art a try remember that we have gift certificates available at The Studio.

Sophia painted Damon, a friend’s dog, at art lesson yesterday.
And didn’t she do a fine job. Even her little brother wanted his picture taken with it. 🙂

I can’t let the day pass without saying how much we miss our Miss Mamie. We lost her a year ago and still miss her so much. Love to you Mamie from me and your brothers. We hope you have a toy pig to play with today! (You can read more about her here.)

Seems that it was Dog Day at The Studio yesterday. I took my boys to work for the morning art class and of course, they were all over everyone. Gretchen made the mistake of sitting down on the floor so Lincoln tried to show her that he is really a lap dog.
Then Lucky came to bring his “sister” to kids class. Sometimes he likes to walk her to class and pick her up. I guess just to be sure she’s safe. With a face like that he does scare off a few folks but he really is just a big sugar lump!
And then finally for the evening adult class Hannah brought her sweet little Hershey to class. She enjoyed all the treats and loving she got from everyone there.
All in all a really good dog day at The Studio!

Today we are remembering Sweet Boo. She was born on this day in 1990 and was a White German Shepherd that had been abandoned. We adopted her from our shelter years ago. We didn’t get her until she was 12 years old! I know, right? That’s old for a big dog. We brought her home in hopes of giving her nice couple of years. Instead, she gave us a nice couple of years.
She was such a sweet girl. We are so grateful to have had time with her. As a tribute to Boo I would encourage anyone thinking of adopting a pet to consider a senior. Older pets need good homes and they are often the best pet to bring into a busy household because they don’t need housebreaking and training. They just need love and companionship….and they give all of that and more back to you. Think about it.
So today we miss and celebrate sweet “Miss Boo- Bella Boobarina – Princess of Sweetness”!
