Thanks to everyone who sent good wishes for Lincoln.  He is a little sport, that’s for sure.  To answer a few questions that came in about him:

I think (and my vet agrees) that he is a Dachshund/Airedale Terrier mix.  Not sure how that happened but it must have involved a ladder.

And we think he is about 1 year to a year and a half old so we have given him Lincoln’s birthday in February.  Appropriate for him!

And he must be a painter because when I got home from art class last night he had turned over a trash can and dug out a piece of palette paper that I had thrown out that had oil paint on it and he painted a rug and the hardwood floor.  Maybe I should have named him Picasso!

But how can you get mad at that face…

As I mentioned last week, I was invited to paint in Strasburg Friday at their first Art Walk.  It happened to coincide with their annual Fireman’s Carnival Parade so there were loads of people downtown to watch the parade and they watched me paint.

You can see the progression of the work here.  Also, I had help from a few young people in selecting which picture they wanted me to paint.

And they even helped me put the finishing flowers in the painting.  I think they enjoyed it almost as much as the parade!

And the painting was about 90% finished by the time I left.  Finishing touches will go on this week and then I’ll post again.

This is my favorite easel for plein-air painting, painting outdoors.

I love it because it sets up so easily and gives a large space for the palette.

I do sometimes use this easel when painting demonstrations indoors, again because of the ease of set-up and small amount of floor space that it takes.

I will be doing a demo in Strasburg at Buggy B’s on King Street from 5:30-7:30 Friday.  I will provide more info later in the week.

This is Charlee.  You’ve seen her before on my blog as she is one of my best young students.  She really has an eye for art and loves it.  Recently we had a private session where she painted this portrait of her cousin, Austin.  She did it for his birthday.  I think it turned out fabulous.  I especially love the way “Woody” is peeking in the corner of the painting.  Great job Charlee!

Tony just joined our Wednesday Art Class.  This is the first painting that he completed with me.  We were very impressed with how great it was.  Keep painting Tony.  You are doing a super job!

I was away for  the 4th of July weekend in West Virginia painting.  I remembered to take a series of photos while I worked so you could see the progress.

This was the view.

The set-up and a start to the painting.

This is my helper….Jed.  He spends most of his “painting” time running and chasing the deer and bunnies away so they don’t bother me.  Isn’t he helpful????!!!!!

And below is the painting about 90% complete.  When I get back to the studio I generally make a few minor changes to a

painting that I have done on location.
