While showing you the mountain and rivers that the Tiger Cubs painted yesterday I thought I would show you what the Young Artists on Wednesday and Thursday did with the same subject. They did a fabulous job. I love seeing what they can do!

I was asked a couple of times this week about the “Bark for the Park” Art Show and Sale. It’s not too late to see it. It will be hanging at the Community Center until May 15th.
And it’s certainly not too late to purchase a painting to help the park. Just contact Kym at the Blue Ridge Arts Council or me to let us know which painting you would like. Just like this little Lhaso Apso, all the paintings in this show are 12″x12″ acrylic on canvas and priced at $125 with all the proceeds going to the park. You can also scroll back through the posting on this blog to see the paintings and select from one that hasn’t yet sold.
Or if you would just like to support the park you can send a donation to the Warren County Dog Park Association, c/o Kelly Walker, 939 S. Marshall St., Front Royal, VA 22630. Any amount is welcomed and appreciated!

Ressie Jeffries 4th graders did a great job on their 175th Anniversary Painting. Here are several of the students working on their paintings along with me and Susan helping them out.
Wow! What a great painting the Ressie Jeffries students produced!
And here are the super students and volunteers that made this beautiful painting. Good job everyone!

Painting with Leslie Fox Keyser Elementary

This week I worked with the 4th grade students at Leslie Fox Keyser Elementary School to produce the 175th Anniversary Painting. The first day Doug Stanley, County Administrator, reviewed the history of Warren County while I gave an overview of the material we would use in the paintings.
I also did a quick demo of some of the brush strokes they would use as well as a color mixing demo of certain colors they would use. They seemed fascinated.
Then on the second day of the project they started painting. I will share more of their work soon. Today was their final day of painting and Hagerstown TV came to do a story. The kids were so excited. Take a look at the story here.
Okay, just one more day….

Okay. I promise I will stop posting photos of Hickory soon. But I couldn’t resist showing a couple of more shots from the Opening Reception Tuesday evening of the “Bark for the Park” Art Show. This cutie is Whill Stanley, Doug’s son. He was really enjoying petting Hickory. And I want to say thanks to Doug who is our county administrator and who has really helped to move the dog park project forward.
And this little sweetie is Max Napier, the grandson of our friends Kathy and Doug. He was loving Hickory too.
I was really thrilled that so many little people were brought to the reception to meet Hickory.
And this fun shot of me with Hickory was taken by my friend and animal lover, Jennie Gosche’.
Many thanks again to Hickory and her family for supporting the event and especially for supporting the park!

The Opening Reception for the “Bark for the Park” Art Show and Sale was a huge success. We had a great turnout. And of course, the most popular girl at the party was Hickory, winner of Westminster. She was such a good sport. She came early and stayed the whole evening so everyone could pet her, have pictures made, etc. What a good sport! Thanks girl to you and your family.
And many thanks to everyone who came and purchased paintings and made donations to the dog park. I know we will raise the money we need so we can start building the park soon.
