Several months ago while I was in the midst of painting ball parks I got an unusual commission request. A gentleman brought in an old photo that he wanted transformed to canvas of a formation in front of the Marine Corps War Memorial. The photo is probably from the 70’s and he is one of the guys in the formation. This is not something that I ordinarily do but he was insistent so I took the commission. I worked on it this weekend and here is how it is going so far.

I’ve been working on a few new paintings of vineyards to hang at Winding Roads Cellars.
I finally got several together and took them out to hang last week. You must go out and see this lovely place.
Winding Roads is a new winery located between Markham and Hume and they have a terrific product. It’s a beautiful ride out there too. They are open Thursday – Monday.
And of course, while you are there please check out my new art. This is one of the new paintings and it is of the view from the winery’s back deck overlooking the little pond on their property.
This painting is SOLD!

Last Saturday we had the Festival of Leaves in downtown Front Royal. Even though it was a rainy day we had people coming by Delilah’s to see all the new work we have by the wonderful artists who are there. I set up outside in a tent and started a new vineyard painting. Here is the start of it.

I finished the last ball park painting in the series of 30 last night about 10 pm while watching a great ball game on TV. This wrapped up a 6 month project and I have to say I felt relief to get it done. Now to prepare for the exhibit and the opening reception on October 23rd from 6-8 pm at the Blue Ridge Arts Council. Please plan to attend and see all the paintings.
This is the final MLB painting in the series: Yankee Stadium – home of the New York Yankees, winner of 27 World Series.

Last Thursday and Friday while working at Delilah’s I painted on the front porch. I love painting outside on beautiful days and Thursday and Friday were lovely. And it’s fun to talk to all the people who come by and stop to see what I am doing. I took several photos while I worked so you can see the progress of this painting. Virginia Vineyard View is an acrylic on canvas measuring 16″x20″ and will be available at Winding Road Cellars soon. (UPDATE: This painting SOLD…even before it made it to the winery. WooHoo!)
