Last night our painters re-created this beautiful Manet painting of the Red and Yellow Roses. And they did a fabulous job! Good work everyone.
Our Famous Painter series is every 4th Tuesday at The Studio.

We painted last night at The Studio to raise money for the Humane Society of Warren County. A great bunch of ladies came out to help and painted a beautiful Robin’s Nest. Great job!
And please remember that our animal shelter and Humane Society can always use your help. There are many ways to assist them: donate money, walk dogs, foster homeless pets, serve as a Good Buddy, donate items they need like pet food or paper supplies. Check out there website for more information.

Yesterday was busy for The Studio. Art Camp in the morning had the campers painting a beautiful Monet inspired sailboat. The kids did a fabulous job on this one. And we even had a little time left to explore palette knife painting. We pack a LOT into just three hours in the morning at camp.
As soon as camp ended we loaded up the supplies and rushed out to the Shenandoah River State Park to hold a Paint Party for Lord Fairfax Community College Workforce Solutions Team. They painted a wonderful view from the park of a road that leads to the River. Even a huge impending storm couldn’t dampen our spirits. This enthusiastic group was a joy with which to paint. Thanks everyone! Check out more about “Team Building” here.

Fielding Archer Demonstrating at Nimod

Fielding Archer 1st demo painting..not complete

Fielding Archer Sunday morning Demo in process
Just returned from Nimrod Hall and a weekend of study with Fielding Archer, an amazing artist from Richmond who shared his unique style with the group painting there. We learned so much by observing Fielding’s demonstrations and asking questions about how he works.
It was a terrific weekend of art at a beautiful place. Can’t wait for next time.

I’m back at Nimrod for a weekend of art. This place is magical in that there are so many beautiful sights to paint plus the minute you drive through the gate your troubles and worries melt away. Everyone is here to learn and create. The atmosphere is terrific. Today we’ll be working with Fielding Archer. Can’t wait to try something new. Enjoy these scenes from around Nimrod and I’ll share more tomorrow….

Here are some more scenes from our Art Retreat along with the first painting I started there. It’s almost complete. We return today back home but a great time was had by the attendees. We can’t wait to go again.
