Wednesday’s Young Artist created these beautiful paintings of lemons this past week.  Didn’t they do a great job?

Young artists, ages 7-12, paint with me each week on Wednesday or Thursday, from 4:15-5:15.  We create something new each week as they learn about color mixing, composition, the use of painting equipment and much more.  If you have a young artist that you would like to paint with  us just contact me at kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com to register them for class.

I also have young artists who are a little too old for the Young Artists classes so they join us for adult classes on Wednesday or Thursday from 5:30-7.  These classes allow students to develop their skills while working on a subject of their choice while receiving individual instruction.  This is Liam, a new student who had excellent drawing skills, working on his fantasy drawing.

I was invited to teach this year’s Adult Leadership Class a lesson in art.  Leadership is an excellent program that the Chamber of Commerce offers that studies a different aspect of our community each month.  They study in-depth government, education, industry, tourism, law enforcement, art, and much more over the course of the year.

So, of course, for my session on Art, Culture and Tourism day, we all painted.

And everyone embraced their inner artist!

And at the end of our session we had seven new artists!  Great job everyone.

One of the things I like best about working at the shop is that I meet really interesting people who are visiting our town.  Last weekend I met these nice folks who were in town for the week for Spring Break.  They were staying out at the State Park and doing fun things each day.  I invited them to come paint with us if they had time.

Annabelle joined the extra-large class that we had on Wednesday.  See more here.   They did a great job painting and had fun too.  So nice to meet you Lori and Annabelle.

Generally during Spring Break I have only one or two students who come to art class.  Imagine my surprise when Wednesday I had 12 students!  Wow!!!

They all did a great job.  We painted a beautiful landscape of a gate that is out from Millwood.

The Thursday class did a fine job with the same painting too.  Great job everyone.

Today I want to brag about and show off a little of my adult student’s work.  I often share with you the kid’s art but here is some of what the adults are working on.

Dean just finished this adorable Bunny in the Basket.  He is doing a fabulous job on his painting often working on his own at home and bringing it in for critique.  Keep up the good work Dean!

And here is Shelly working on her version of the Cyprus at Pebble Beach.  Shelly’s work is always very good and she pushes herself to try new and more difficult paintings.  Good job Shelly!

Pat is working on her largest painting yet-a gift for her daughter.  The scale and detail are a challenge and Pat is going after it with gusto.  You go girl!

Jean working on her golfer painting.  We painted along on this one and she did a fabulous job!

(You can see Dean in the back of this photo so you can put a face with the first photo in this post.)

Keep up the good work everyone.
