Last night I took a class at The Studio (instead of teaching one!) and we made a Sock Monkey.
He is so cute. Sandra Charles taught us and boy is she good.
Thanks Sandra for being so patient and making it so much fun! I can’t wait to try it again…this time it will be a “Sock Puppy”!

I worked on a sample painting in a “Folk Art” style for the Retreat that I am teaching at this weekend at Sassafras Farm. We will be doing one canvas painting as well as a painting on a bucket!
Looking forward to meeting some new friends and having a fun weekend at the “Pioneers and Primitives” Retreat.

A few weeks ago a gentleman came by The Studio asking about portraits. He had a pretty faint photo of a horse that belongs to his daughter and he wanted it done for her birthday. This is the horse. I do quite a few dog portraits, even some cats but very seldom do I get to do a horse.
They were very happy with the results.

I had a few minutes to paint during art class last night so in honor of Picasso and finding his painting hidden under “The Blue Room”, I painted over an old abstract painting I had done several years ago.
The Seagull is acrylic on 24″ x 24″ canvas and is available for $225.

Yesterday afternoon we had the Kid’s “Paint Your Own Pet Portrait” Workshop. It was so much fun!!!! The kids did superb work on their portraits. We had dogs, cats, and horses. They were all so different and all so good! Great job young artists. I love seeing the enthusiasm of young painters creating beautiful art.
Many thanks to my good friend and great painter, Linda, who helped with this large group. Couldn’t have done it without your help.
We have an adult workshop today from 4-7. Let me know if you want to come join us.

A few weekends ago I took an art workshop in Staunton at the Beverley Street Studio School. What a neat place! The workshop was all about painting animals. So, of course, the week before I went to the workshop I took photos of animals I have been wanting to paint — like a llama. I have some friends with all kinds of animals and they allowed me to come and take pictures. This Llama, I think his name is Tony, was a real character. He kept photo-bombing every time I tried to take a photo of the other llamas that were there, especially the baby llama. He and the other two adults did not want me to photo the baby. So long story short, I got lots of cool photos of Tony but no good ones of the other three. Here is the first painting of Tony. It’s a 6″x8″ oil on canvas. It is available at Delilah’s or by contacting kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com

There are very few days that I don’t actually paint. Yesterday was one of them. I spent the afternoon riding around the county taking photos of animals for an upcoming workshop that I will be attending on “Painting Animals”. I’m very excited to be taking the workshop. It’s my birthday do-over since I was sick on my birthday this year. A good do-over, huh?!
These are some of the photos that I got yesterday. A good friend was kind enough to let me come to his place and get some Llama shots. I have been wanting to paint one so here is my chance. Just look at that FACE!!!
