Abstracts are fun and often fast to paint. We had a fun painting these on Tuesday. People are always surprised that with a few tips and a little help they can create some amazing works of art. Great job everyone….and Lincoln helped!

As we said yesterday there are unlimited possibilities with pour paintings and the kids gave it a try yesterday. The hardest part was getting them to wait there turn because having 8 kids pouring and tilting canvas all at the same time would have been a nightmare. LOL!

We had a great group making Pour Paintings yesterday at The Studio. These are amazingly fun to make and to see what turns out! Here are the ones we did and how they looked when we left them. But who knows, they may look different when we go back today.

Sometimes you just can’t find something that will look just right in a space….so you create it. This is a large abstract (30″x40″) that I painted to fit a remodeled bathroom space. I love it!

This is a demonstration piece recently done for a class. Abstract painting is interesting. Everyone thinks it’s easy but to make a successful abstract it takes more than just slapping paint on the surface. It’s one of those things that everyone should try at least once.

Last night at our Adult’s Art Class we all decided to get loose and paint abstracts. Thanks Marie for the push! It was great fun. We watched a short Bobblast video for inspiration…we love Bob Burridge! And off we went, painting away. This is my Big Bird…. a representational abstract piece. It was fun!

One of the things I love about our Adult Art classes at The Studio is that students get to know one another and feel comfortable sharing and asking for opinions on their work. Recently in class Michele painted this fabulous abstract and as she was trying to decide what it needed to finish she consulted with the other students in the class for their opinions. (Logan is giving her thoughts in this photo.) I love how everyone feels comfortable to ask one another knowing they’ll get several ideas and all will be given with encouragement. Great work Michele…and everyone in the class for wanting to help all the students do their very best. Keep painting!

From time to time we have time to work one on one with students. A few weeks ago Ethan chose to paint an abstract piece. I was very proud of how he did. He considered the colors and design and painted this lovely abstract work. Nice job!
