A few years ago Brother decided that he wanted to learn to play the fiddle. So he taught himself how! Now he goes to fiddle fests and Bluegrass jams and fiddles and fiddles. I wanted to make him a special quilt. I decided that a large fiddle applique playing with darks against lights would be best. I like how it turned out but once Wendy Hughes, long-arm quilter extraordinaire, performed her magic it turned into an incredible quilt. Thanks Wendy! I love it…and I just heard from Brother. I mailed it to him and he got it today. He loved it too! 🙂

Just completed the “Block in the Row” quilt that I started down at the river last week. It was fun one to make and went pretty fast as a Quilt as You Go project. Now on to the next one….

We had a large group of 28 painters (not all shown here) for the Belle Grove Paint Party Fundraiser yesterday. So many nice people came out to paint the beautiful scene that you see behind them in the photo. The wind gave us a little challenge but everyone came through like champs. Nice work everyone. Thanks Kristin for inviting me out to paint at such a lovely location. Now maybe next time we won’t have to tape down the palette paper! 🙂

These kids did amazing work sewing travel pillows plus a patriotic table runner at yesterday’s Sewing Camp. They learned to use sewing machines as well as hand stitch in this camp session. Great work!

Squirrel!

Did someone say Squirrel???!!!! Didn’t these 5 and 6 year old artists do amazing work on their squirrel paintings yesterday at The Studio???!!! Terrific. Our “Animal Affair” Art Camp ended yesterday but don’t worry there is much more camp this summer for kids. Next week we have a “Beach Party” session for ages 5-7. Art Camp at The Studio started yesterday with these 4 great young painters (and Lincoln) as they painted these cute little geese in a lavender field. We are exploring animals in this 2 day camp. We have lots more great sessions coming up this summer. Check out the schedule here and register your young artists. And don’t miss the sewing camps too. We have one starting Thursday and there is one space left in it!

Hydrangeas!

We had a full house yesterday for our Hydrangea Paint Party….and everyone did a beautiful job on their canvases. I missed a few people as they left before I could get the photo. 😦 And we were thrilled to have several new painters with us. We’d love to have you join us at The Studio soon.
