Yesterday our little art campers (and I mean little-ages 5-6) painted the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park. These little ones did a great job! You can see more detail in the painting with Daisy’s framed piece.
Today – the GAZEBO!

With Art Camp in full swing I haven’t had much time to paint. Here is another little flower in the series of small flower paintings I have been working on. Iris is an acrylic on canvas measuring 8″x*8″ and will be available soon on the eBay auction.

Our art campers did an amazing thing yesterday. They painted this wonderful copy of Edward Hopper’s Automat. Their versions are 18″x24″ and they did this in just 3 hours. Aren’t they fabulous???!!!
There is more art camp to come this summer. Click here and sign up your young person.

Art Camp this session is featuring post-impressionism. Yesterday we talked about Andy Warhol and painted two of his famous illustrated shoes from the 1950’s.
We LOVE them! Great job girls.

I have a young student, Sophia. She was so bashful that she hardly wanted to stay the first day her mom brought her to class. And when I have other young students in class she won’t talk at all. But this summer we have had several classes where she was the only student and she really has come out of her shell. She talks up a storm!
And we have a great time painting together. Yesterday she painted a lovely Iris. And when she came in to class she brought a wonderful birthday gift for me. You can see it in the wall above her head. She knows how much I love dogs!
Thanks Sophia. Keep up the good work painting.

Several weeks ago I shared with you a portrait I did of a basset hound named Truman who lived in Minnesota. (See that here.) Last week I got this wonderful photo of Truman with his portrait. I love it. But I am sad to report that old Truman is no longer with us. His family had to let him go recently as his cancer had just gotten to bad to live with. 😦
I know that their Truman was well-loved and am so glad that they shared a small part of him with us.

I painted this one yesterday as I enjoyed my vacation at the Shenandoah River State Park. Beautiful here. Can’t wait to paint more.

I am taking a mini vacation right in my own backyard. The Shenandoah River State Park is just about 8 miles from my house but feels like it’s a million miles away when you are here. It is just lovely. I spent an hour hiking this morning and got some great reference photos for painting. More to come as I recharge my battery.
