Sophia’s Art

20150715_170530-1I have a young student, Sophia.  She was so bashful that she hardly wanted to stay the first day her mom brought her to class.  And when I have other young students in class she won’t talk at all.  But this summer we have had several classes where she was the only student and she really has come out of her shell.  She talks up a storm!

And we have a great time painting together.  Yesterday she painted a lovely Iris.  And when she came in to class she brought a wonderful birthday gift for me.  You can see it in the wall above her head.  She knows how much I love dogs!

Thanks Sophia.  Keep up the good work painting.

I know that their Truman was well-loved and am so glad that they shared a small part of him with us.

I am taking a mini vacation right in my own backyard. The Shenandoah River State Park is just about 8 miles from my house but feels like it’s a million miles away when you are here. It is just lovely. I spent an hour hiking this morning and got some great reference photos for painting.   More to come as I recharge my battery.
