A Milestone – # 2000!

Wow! I could never have imagined when I started “Life of a Daily Painter” blog in February 2008 that I would still be blogging today….and that I would ever post 2000 times!
I started blogging as a way to share the daily paintings that I was creating and to hopefully sell some as I try to make a living as an artist. But after a year or so the blog developed into more.
As I started teaching more I would share the work of my students. They enjoy seeing their work and hearing your comments on what they are doing.
And I when my shop, Delilah’s converted to an artist’s co-op, I started sharing more of the other kinds of art and crafts that I was doing like crochet and jewelry. And now that the shop has once again transformed to The Studio – A Place for Learning (a creative teaching co-op) I am sharing the creativity of others who take all sorts of classes there.
And all the while the blog has been intermingled with stories about my dogs (here is one of my favorite about Truman) , some painting tips, museum travel suggestions (here is one that features the “French” Lincoln), recipes, and crochet patterns.
And all the while many of you have continued to follow me from the beginning and others found me along the way. I am so grateful to you all for that.
The blog has become an old friend…one that I visit with every morning for a few minutes. Thanks for following along. I hope you will continue visiting with me here too!
Evergreens Abound

I had the pleasure of working with the Conference Managers yesterday for their Christmas Party. They had a fun day of cooking, wine tasting and painting at The Salamander Resort in Middleburg.
We painted a lovely winter scene with snow and trees and they all did a FABULOUS job! They were an enthusiastic and delightful group…but what could I expect when you get 15 A-type personalities together to paint. It was spirited! Great work everyone.
And I love that after we took their “class photo” they leaned in to take a “selfie”. Now those girls are good!!!

Last night at Art Class I had a delightful group of young people come to paint with me for the first time. It was a brother and sister and cousin. Their grandmother “made” them do it. LOL They all did a wonderful job even though they told me they had not painted this way before.
And in the end they were glad that she MADE them do it. I hope I get the chance to work with them again soon. Great job guys. Keep Painting!

Two Great Workshops Coming Up
Posted in Collage, Paint Parties, Workshop/Retreat, tagged Initial Painting, Paint Party, paper and paint on December 3, 2014| Leave a Comment »
We have two great workshops coming up at The Studio. The first on is this Friday morning, December 5th from 11-12:30. We will be making these terrific “Initial Paintings” using paint and paper. These are pretty simple to make but produce a really nice work of art that would make a fabulous present for anyone on your list. You can see more about it here.
(And if you can’t make it Friday morning we will have a Tuesday evening class for this one on December 9th.)
The second is our 1st Saturday Paint Party where we will be painting this beautiful winter tree scene on Saturday, December 6th at 2 pm. And we will finish just in time to watch the Christmas Parade go by! Click here for more information.
There are only a couple of spaces left in each of these workshops so be sure to contact kwalker@doubledogdesigns.com to reserve a space now.
