loving-vincent-shop-1398331843If you do nothing else today you HAVE to watch this film trailer.   I’ve been seeing a short video on Facebook the last few days promoting a new film about Vincent Van Gogh.  It  is and animated film about his life being made entirely using paintings in his swirling-choppy style and based on his letters.  It is AMAZING!

You  must watch this short video about the film…..and then watch the trailer for the film here.  The things they can do with art and film is unbelievable.  I can’t wait to see the completed film.

48216619.cachedOur fascination with Vincent Van Gogh will never end.  We love his work and are always interested to read new ideas and theories surrounding his life and work.  Here’s the latest concerning clues to his suicide.

A Dutch actor was talking about a painting of Van Gogh’s house in Arles and noted that the street had been broken up because Van Gogh was having gas lighting installed. “That’s when the alarm bells started going off for me,” Van Slooten recalls.”  Click here and read the story in The Daily Beast.

The second Famous Painters Paint Party last night had us painting Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.  And boy did they turn out GREAT!  We all had such a fun time and these ladies went home with fabulous paintings.  The next Famous Painter Party is October 27th.  We’ll announce the painting we will do in a few days.  To see last month’s party click here.

Art Camp August 7Yesterday we ended this session of Art Camp with a large Van Gogh painting.  And what a terrific job these artists did on this one!  Van Gogh’s “The Cafe Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles at Night” has lots of colors and angles and these kid’s paintings are outstanding.  Great, great job!!!

There is only one session of Art Camp left.  It’s next Monday-Tuesday, August 11-12 for ages 5-7.
