River Reflections
Sticking with the river theme from the last day or so, today’s painting is River Reflections. It is an 8″ x10″ oil painting and is available for $145 (unframed).
And don’t forget the River Festival tomorrow in Front Royal.

Shenandoah River from the Low Water Bridge
Don’t forget that this Saturday is the “On the River” Festival in Front Royal. For more information on the festival you can go to this link: http://www.canoecapital.org/
As I have said many times, as an artist I am so lucky to live in the Shenandoah Valley with the river and mountains and valley views. It is a gold mine for painters. I hope others will come out on Saturday and celebrate one of the treasures that is ours.

"River's Edge"
“River’s Edge” is an oil on 12″x24″ canvas. It is a view across the Shenandoah River with the mountains in the background. This is another painting that I have just completed for the upcoming River Show at the Blue Ridge Arts Council that is being held in conjunction with the River Festival on August 15th in Front Royal.

“View from the River Bridge” is an oil on canvas panel measuring 9″x12″. I started this painting several weeks ago as a lesson in the Wednesday night art class. We did the landscape work with the fields, mountain and river. Then when I brought it home and looked at it for awhile I decided that it needed something more. The photo I used was one I snapped while driving along. (See the photo by clicking this link. https://lifeofadailypainter.com/2009/06/30/serendipity/ )
So I added the bridge to the painting. This is one that will be entered in the upcoming River Show at the Blue Ridge Arts Council in Front Royal.

Front Royal is the Canoe Capital of Virginia and they are holding a river festival on August 15th. In conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the town being named Canoe Capital they are asking artists to participate in a paddle art display. I just completed my entry:
Here’s the start. I covered the entire paddle with acrylic paint making it look like a scene from the river with the sky above.
Next I sketched in the details that I wanted to paint on the paddle and started painting them in.

This is the finished detail of the paddle with the “Boys” on the front and Canoe Capital on the back.
A special thank you to our friend Kym who came up with the name for this one – “Dog Paddle!”

The completed paddle and, of course, everyone’s a critic!
The paddles will be on display at shops in downtown and then featured in the Blue Ridge Arts Council’s “Art in the Window Gallery” on Main Street in Front Royal from July 22 – August 21.
