Even though I taught nine hours each day at the Retreat I did find a little time one morning to paint a little scene in Plein-air. This lovely little scene was right behind my cabin.
Here is the progress I made in about an hour.
And here is the final painting, Camp Shepherd Morning, oil on canvas panel, 8″x10″, framed and available for $195.

Chickens in the Road Retreat

was held this weekend at Camp Shepherd in West Virginia. (Remember the painting of the chickens I did for a poster a few months back. See it here.) There were a multitude of workshops to choose from where attendees learned everything from painting to cheesemaking to container gardening to apron making and much, much more. There was a diverse group of life-long learners there taking it all in. And they were from all over the United States and even one from Canada! I taught six classes – three for Canvas Painting and three for Gourd Painting. Most of the students shown here had never painted. And didn’t they do a TERRIFIC job. It was so nice being with all the attendees and helping them develop new talents. Tomorrow we will look at the Gourd Painters!

Here’s another sample gourd that I will be taking to the workshop I am teaching this weekend. This one is a “bird house”. 🙂
I patterned it after one that my mom painted for me over 20 years ago. I treasure it since we lost her to cancer not long after. It was fun painting one in a pattern like she had used.

Painting should be fun! As these delightful ladies found out last Friday evening. I was thrilled to paint with them at their “Girls Night Out” and we had a terrific time. Even though a couple were hesitant at first about giving it a try, in the end they were all really glad they did and thrilled with the result.
Painting Parties are great fun for kids or adults. And there are many, many subjects to choose from to tailor it to whatever theme you may have. Check out more information here and contact kwalker@kellywalkerstudios.com to book your party today.
Great job ladies and thanks for all the laughs. I had fun too!

Yesterday afternoon at out Kids Painting Class we painted Lincoln.

Lincoln would love this, of course, because he loves being the center of attention!
And didn’t Logan and Sam do fabulous jobs on their paintings.
And they did this is just one hour. WOW!
Just for a point of reference, this is the photo we used and my demo painting. I didn’t get finished with mine yet. But I will get to it. 🙂
