Just one more day to the Opening Reception of the “Bark for the Park” Art Show & Sale to benefit the Off-Leash Dog Park.

Several really good pieces of news have come my way this past week.  First, Hickory, the Scottish Deerhound who won the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this year will be in attendance as our guest of honor.  She believes in the off-leash park!  🙂

This is a painting that I did of Hickory this weekend.  I thought she should have her portrait included among the other 46 dogs on display for the show.

The reception is from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Warren County Community Center.  Please come out and invite all your friends to see the plans for the new dog park.

The second piece of good news is that several paintings have already sold!!!  Yeah!  The proceeds from sales at this show go to the dog park.  Thanks to everyone who has already made a purchase to support the park.  Of course, you can make a donation to the park without buying a painting.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Chihuahua Jack belongs to my friend Sally.  Sally has rescued dogs for years and always has a pack of dogs as part of her family.  Currently she has nine.  That’s right, 9 dogs!!!

But this little guy has set her world upside down.  She is crazy about him.  He was found living outside, all alone, and it took a long time for them to catch him.  But he has the good life now.  He’s stolen her heart and that of the rest of his family.  I think it was his underbite that did her in.  🙂

This painting is part of the “Bark for the Park” series on display at the Warren County Community Center to promote and fund the new dog park.  Stop by and see it.  (In private collection Raleigh, NC)

Really!  Anyone who has ever had one wants another.  They are just the sweetest dogs ever.

The Yellow Lab is a sweet pup I took a photo of at the shop a few years ago.  And the Black Lab is my Jed.  Both are acrylic paintings on canvas measuring 12″x12″.  They are on display at the “Bark for the Park” Art Show and Sale at the Warren County Community Center, 538 Villa Avenue, Front Royal.  Stop by and see it.

Sadie Lady is a Jack Russell Mix.  The painting is an acrylic on 12″x12″ gallery wrap canvas.  SOLD!   Sadie is one of my granddogs.

A couple of years ago, Allen’s daughter appeared at my door early one morning with Sadie in tow.  She was doing her morning walk and this little dog “started following her”.  She wanted me to take it.  At the time I had three dogs and said, Oh, no!  I convinced her to take it home and call the shelter to see if anyone was missing a little girl like her.  She ended up taking her to the shelter.  Then regretting it.  As soon as Sadie was available for adoption she went right back out and got her.  She had been a much-loved member of the family ever since.   🙂

She’s a little spoiled, but hey, shouldn’t all dogs be spoiled???!!!

Here I am with Sadie with the evil eyes at Christmas this year.  She thinks she should always be in someones lap or arms.

This is Jam.  The painting is an acrylic on canvas measuring 12″x12″.  This painting is SOLD

Jam’s story started as a difficult one.  He was abused but rescued by his wonderful mommy, Carol Ann.  He had to be the most difficult rescue I have ever seen and I’ve rescued and seen friends rescue quite a few dogs.

Jam was fearful of people, of the house, of the hallway leading into the house, of everything.  And he made a terrible mess in his fear – poop.  It was so hard for Carol Ann the first two weeks.  I wasn’t sure he was going to adjust but she was patient and help him get settled in with his sister Bella in his new home.

He came around little by little and now is a happy boy.  Thank you Carol Ann for rescuing him and helping him become a normal happy dog.  You’re a lucky boy, Jammie!
