logans-classI was out of town yesterday so I couldn’t teach my kids class.  I asked one of my students to teach class for me.  Logan (you’ve seen me post about her here before here) started taking classes with me when she was a kid…the same age as the kids in the current class. Now she is in the Adult Class and doing a great job as a painter and color mixer.  So yesterday she taught the Kid’s Class….and did a TERRIFIC job. Logan I am so proud of her and how she stepped up to teach class for me.  Thanks Logan….Great Work!!!  And great job kids.

Private Lessons with Kids

You may know that we offer Kid’s Art Class every Wednesday from 4:15-5:15 for ages 7-13 but did you know that we offer private lessons for younger kids.  Here is Marie with her little painting of her pup that she did in two lessons with us.  And Sophia and brother Joey did these lovely barn paintings this week at their lesson.  Kids love creating beautiful art.  Do you have a young painter who might like to paint with us?  Send us a message and we’ll get started.  kwalker@kellywalkerstudios.com

The Blue Barns

kids-blue-barn-10-18The kids painted Blue Barns with orange trees this week at class.  We are always discussing complementary colors and color mixing and this was a great lesson in that.  (Don’t tell them they are actually learning while having a good time painting.  We sneak that in on them!)

Plein Air at The Farm

Lauren with 1st Plein Air PaintingOur Art Retreat to Whippoorwill Farm has ended and was a great success.  Ten of us went to practice our plein air skills.  Some were painting outdoors for the first time…and they did great.  Take a  look at Lauren with her first plein air painting.  She did a fabulous job.  She completed about 90 percent of it on location and then finished it up at class last night.  Beautiful work Lauren.  So glad you were able to go and experience plein air painting.

An All-American Barn

Fundraiser Paint Party

We had a fabulous Paint Party yesterday as a fundraiser for the Warren Memorial Hospital Team participating in the Humane Society Dragon Boat Race coming up next weekend.  This is a big fundraising event for our shelter and the hospital  team is enthusiastic and ready to go.

These ladies painted wonderful barns with flags.  They were all just beautiful!  Great job painting ladies and great job supporting a good cause!
