Red Blooms Diptych is an acrylic on gallery wrap canvas measuring 20″x32″. SOLD. This is a painting that I did for the upcoming member show at the Blue Ridge Arts Council.
The show opens on June 17th, the same night as the 3rd Thursday Art Walk in downtown Front Royal. It’s my favorite show each year that BRAC displays because all the members enter works they have been doing during the year and everyone has such different styles. I love to see it all together. Mark your calendar now so that you can be there for the opening reception.

We said goodbye to Truman yesterday. He has been a part of our family for 11 years. We got him when he was just 5 1/2 weeks old. He was the cutest little puppy.

He had so many funny little quirks. He would take his dog biscuits and hide them. Then bark at them until someone came to find them and gave them to him again. He did this every day. And every day, there I would be on my hands and knees scratching through the back of the closet, or under the bed, or in a corner under a rug to find his “cookies”.
He also like to play a silly game that we called “Where’s Truman” where he would get up on the bed and bark until you came in to see him. Then we would throw the blanket over his face and say, Where’s Truman? This could go on for several minutes until he was satisfied that he had gotten enough attention.
I know Truman had a great life. We were good to him. But we got so much in return from him. Even with his quirkiness he was a great dog. He was the life of the party. He loved everyone he met and had a great disposition.

He was our handsome boy and we miss him already.

One of the things I love best about having Delilah’s Art & Gift Gallery in Front Royal, beside the art, is that we are pet friendly and almost every time I am there someone comes by with their dogs. Of course, I invite them in. I keep treats just for such an occasion. And usually I make new friends through this process.
Recently, Hershey and Cocoa came in with their parents and their mom made this photo of them with me and just sent it to me. I think they enjoyed their visit. I know I did.
My art classes are pet friendly also. I few months ago I had a new student join the Wednesday night class and her one caveat was that Waffles had to come to class too. And of course, that was not problem. Now Waffles comes to class each week and has fast become my favorite “art student”. She is so good. She stays in her little bag, unless I sneak her out. Much to her Mom’s dismay, I often take her out and carry her around the class with me as we help students with their paintings. She has a great eye for art!

No new painting today. Our Truman is not feeling well and I have been spending all my time with him.

White Quince is an oil on canvas measuring 20″x16″ and is available for $295.
I love this time of the year when everything is blooming. There are so many subjects for painting. I generally take lots of photos during April and May so that I have subject matter for painting throughout the year. Building a reference file is important if you paint everyday.

Mean Rooster III is an oil on canvas panel measuring 8″x6″ and is available for $125.
Mean Rooster belonged to Suzanne McMinn of Chickens in the Road.com fame. If you haven’t checked out her blog yet take a look to the left at Sites of Interest and you will see a link to her blog. It’s terrific.
Mean Rooster chased her around the yard and she had to fend him off with a broom!

The Art Walk last night was great fun. Many different people helped to paint the two canvases that I had down at the Blue Ridge Arts Council. There were three other locations where people were painting as well.
Here are some of the artist hard at work!!!

Be sure to mark your calendar for the 3rd Thursday in June and come down and join us on Main Street.
