20190328_083424.jpgWe are all ready for spring flowers…..we love to paint them.  So the kids painted a vase of tulips this week at class.  What fun!  And they turned out great.

We said goodbye to Jed yesterday.  He was such a good and sweet boy.  He didn’t often get the attention he deserved because Lincoln would get it all but he was happy to let his brother have the limelight.  Jed was steady and good.  We got him when he was pulled off the street as a stray in St Clairesville, OH where we found him in a shelter.  We drove in a terrible snow storm to pick him up because they were going to put him down.  He had been in a inmate training program at the local prison and his “trainer” was teaching him to jump up and bite.  We were able to convince the shelter manager that we could change the behavior…which we did.  He was too sweet to bite.  All he ever wanted to do was please us.  His favorite things were to run and play out at the cabin in West Virginia especially if he could find some cow or deer poop to roll in.  When we built the dog park he was delighted to chase the trains that came by each day.  When we adopted Lincoln he welcomed him as his long lost brother from the first minute they met.  They were quite the pair of short legged boys.  But this last year he really slowed down and over the past few months he has been declining.  His old body was just giving out where he couldn’t walk well anymore and finally he was having difficulty breathing.  It’s so sad to see our babies in decline knowing what happy, strong, healthy dogs they once were.  We are heartbroken here today.  Lincoln continues to look for him in all of Jed’s favorite spots.  It will take a little while but for now we are just trying to remember the handsome, sweet, smiling boy that was Jed.
